All the Alf hero worship is ok because they don't have photos of him doing the same thing?
-
• #16453
What do you call Alf fans?
Alfengers.
OK, OK, I'll get my draft.
-
• #16454
Xav is doing a fine job of trolling him.
Alf's fanboy's "please ban me" thread is such wank.

Are all these people pushing for this disqualification the same ones who try and get rides on fast dual carriageway courses to improve their PBS?
-
• #16456
Yes, and the two things are not mutually incompatible if you take the view that endorsing the Marcin line is likely to get us thrown off fast dual carriageways by the local plod.
-
• #16457
Exactly - Marcin just got a bit too much traffic assistance on the net elevation loss course for it to be a valid record.
-
• #16458
Net elevation loss doesn't even cover it, it's more like a 20 mile tt with a free 5 mile head start!
The problem is that if you want to compare yourself to others you have to ride the same races, and no other course seems to compare to it, other than perhaps the p884b which is actually pretty flat.

I'm faster on E2. I need another go in the dry I guess.

I heard he also had a wee in a front garden near the startline.

• #16461
He didn't say thank you to his pusher-off either. Scum.

Push? DQ!

Has CTT added the amendments (i & ii) to rule 20(b) since this Marcin DQ thing? I'm sure I haven't read those before.

They are recent, but not that recent. AFAIK, they have been there all of this year, and possibly last year too.

Some people who ride both find Etwall faster

Did he shout his number out when he crossed the line?

Did the FUCT 10 today and felt fuct all the way. 98" GI was too much for the headwind and the drag up to the RAB, and playing my first football match of the season wasn't the ideal preparation.
I came 3rd out of 8 in the fixed gear category though, 40 seconds slower than my PB, and only a minute behind two guys with a sub-20 and a short 20 PB, So it could have been worse, but it never felt very good. God knows how much slower it would have been without my new Velotoze, which I'll hopefully be able to take off one day.

I spotted a Severn Road Club evening 10 last night (on UC186B, apparently) after dropping my other half off at work. Number 17 was about to catch his minute man.
Looked good fun actually, might try riding the course myself just to see if it's remotely worth trying it in future.

why not just turn up and give it a go, its a lot less intimidating that you'd imagine, and there are always a broad range of people so the chances of you being first or last are slim as are the chances of you having the flashiest or shittiest bike there.
assuming your bike is road legal and in the light of last weeks court case id hope to god everyone in the world is, then turn up, pay your £4, pin your number on and have bit of fun.

Severn Road Club
Looks like they've now finished for the year:
https://sites.google.com/site/severnroadclub/club-events/evening-10s-2017I'm kind of looking forward to finishing for the year too. Last goal of the season is for a mid-20 in the Paceline RT 10 in Sept, which I really hope to get into after getting a new PB last weekend.
-
• #16471
Yes, I should probably just try it. I know the roads well enough and it seems like a good part of the world to do it in (quite a few old trunk roads that now carry little traffic).
-
• #16472
Just do it (although keep in mind most evening 10s are starting to finish for the year).
I started doing my local club's evening 10 last year on my road bike and enjoyed it, coming more or less last each time.
This year knocked a minute of my PB and won the clubs handicap trophy. It's been a lot of fun, and the training and riding has made me loose weight and made me the fittest I've been for a while. -

have you done p881r before?
The utag version is my last realistic chance at sub 20 for the year, looking forward to it and hoping for nice weather, blew a chance earlier in the year with poor mechanical skills, and not having recced the turn, its complex and can be fast if you get it right, definitely worth a drive before hand!

Can someone explain why there's a Closed Circuit National Championship?
-
• #16475
No, not done it before, but I've just seen that there are a few vids on Youtube. I'll watch those and drive the course beforehand to get a feel. You think I'm safe to get in on a 21:17?
