Suns out so I took a pic to show off the glitter. Also really highlights some of the imperfections that I need to sort out but it can wait a while.

Chainreaction's warehouse burned down apparently or they've run out of excuses for shipping delays. Got impatient and borrowed tyres from my neighbour so I could do a test ride at least, so far so good. Inbound tyres are 2.25 and these are 2.1 with plenty of room so all good.

Post ride assessment: chain jumped off front ring going down some bumpy bits. Fancy new 1x chainring, bit disappointed. Any tips on e.g chain length & such that are obvious from the above pic? Also - f@ck, I'm shit at mtb.

Ahh didn't realise it was glitter flaked too! What does the down tube say? What paints were you using?

turn on your clutch, or adjust it to increase the tension (google M786 clutch adjustment).

• #116293
Don't think I have that, says m780 on it.

well there you go, non-clutch rear derailleurs aren't really made for 1x...

Yeah I'm really pleased with it tbh. It's all done with spray.bike cans. Base of red, then black, then red flake and topcoat. Took a long time to harden and I mistreated it before it fully cured. Can says 12 hours but I guess that's for one coat. Text says Link Ezra which are my son's first two names. Wanted it to look fairly graphicy and ambiguous though so that's why it's hard to read.
I do recommend the spraybike stuff though, everything except the clear coat goes on really easy and is touch dry in minutes. -

I've had the exact opposite experience, found that it just comes out as and stays in powder form and doesn't stick. Likely user error though haha, found the small bit of clear I used has actually been much easier!

Crushed Kona Paddy Wagon replaced with non-crushed Paddy Wagon. First one was an insurance replacement from Evans in 2007. Probably got ~40k commuter kms out of it. New one is a 2009 frame + parts bin stuff + some nice Goldtech/Open Pro wheels I bought a few years ago for the track but never used. Have been commuting on an old 90s mountain bike for the last 6 months, fixed this morning felt a bit wierd, but good.

He hit me side on as I was going forward. Luckily, I bounced off and away from the car, but he kept going, onto my bike, dragging it a few more meters. The initial impact was probably 5-6 meters behind this picture. He was 85 years old and could hardly walk, so no chance of performing an emergency stop. I even had time to think 'he's seen me, he's going to stop' before he hit me. Luckily I was not injured at all and his insurance paid up. Police did not attend ("as I was not injured and they were busy"), so I guess he is still driving.
I see LFGSS will be in good hands while I'm on holiday.
