I almost never follow the comments, but as far as I remember, they often switch comments off for such articles.

fuck that's a terrible article!

I know... It was more because I wanted to refer to that link. I should have just quoted it and not replied.

It's a weird piece. The tone of it is very anti-cyclist, but all the comments she's chosen from here are pretty balanced actually and don't really do anything for her agenda.

Silencing the dissenters...

Continuing with the latest cyclists as criminals angle. Awesome.

"Mrs Briggs' widower, Matthew, from Lewisham, south London, moved to reassure cyclists that the case would not spark a “witch hunt” against them. "
yet he was on the news last night doing just that. What he's going through is unimaginable, and it would be remiss of anyone to even begin to understand the pain he's processing as a result of his loss, but i worry that his words are going to merely embolden those that feel it's their right to intimidate people on 'the wrong sort of bike'. would be good if he could caveat his statements with an appeal for calm. so far he hasn't done so, at least not from what i've heard.

He did say "Cyclist/ped collisions are up 47%" which I think is a lift from that Mail article which ignored the rise in cycling numbers over the same period, so the collision rate actually declined. Raw numbers aren't helpful.

I suppose if it means that everyone will be riding around with pedal reflectors through fear of being ad hoc inspected by a motorist then they'll consider it job done

How do you do fellow couriers?
-
• #47842
Probably missing the fact that 90% of people on here now ride gravel/adventure bikes, and most of the sweet fixeh skidderz run a front brake anyway.

Remember kids, what you say can and will be used against you.
Also, Trump bemoaned the media too.

If I knew the Standard were watching I would have pointed out that after that cocaine party the prostitute said the other men were rude and coarse, Osborne was shy and polite but shit in bed.

Also contemporary post-social-media journalism = beachcombing

90% of the people here come here for advice about car maintenance.

Peds need to learn not to trust their ears. Especially with all the electric cars around.
However, many times I've seen cyclists want to teach these ignorant peds a lesson, so they deliberately do a close pass in order to frighten people. Or barrel their way through a crowd of red-man-crossing peds.
Everybody just needs to be a bit more patient and respectful.
