    First time I've seen that too. Makes me realise how much rear wheel braking effectiveness would rely on the ability of the rider. Clearly someone who's never ridden fixed before is going to stop slower than someone who has. would the test have been fairer if they'd simulated it by just using a rear rim brake?

  • I was about to point that out too. I recently tried fixed (I have front and rear brakes on it) and was utterly humbled by the experience. Even after practicing in the park before heading to the road, the whole concept of not using my brakes took quite a while and takes a lot of skill, which I do not have! I think I still would use the brakes, because, why not? It makes my life easier etc. Saying that, the distance that "test" took was ridiculous, he wasn't doing an emergency stop probably because he didn't have someone jump in front of him and a large slice of confirmation bias.
