Can't really speak for anyone else but I think a part of my love of reverb is the fact that I'm a super primitive guitarist, and most other effects tend to emphasise the skill of the player. Reverb tends to hide it - something that's to its credit imo. You can lose yourself in a reverb.
Also the sound of a spring reverb has been something that's tweaked my bum for many years. Memories of smashing the old reverb tank in a vintage PA to get that crashing noise. Gratifying as fuck.
