• Hi all,

    I have a small 1983 Peugeot P18L mixte in 50cm for sale.

Built in 1982, this is a 1983 model.

Seat tube is 50cm centre to top so this was the smallest frame Peugeot produced at the time.
Top tube is 54cm projected so with swept bars, it will fit a lucky lady around 5ft2 ish

This was in a sorry state when I got it and I spent far too much time giving it a lookover/service. This is ready to ride!

    • Frame: 50cm. Carbolite Tubing which is reasonably light. Lovely turquoise olour. Rear rack, full mudguards.
    • Quill seatpost (moves freely) with a new brown studded saddle.
    • Cockpit: 46cm swept back bars (chromed steel) which I have flipped for a higher riding position, 90mm quill stem, wooden style foam grips, **new ** outer cables, new inner cables. Nice original Peugeot bell (not on the photos). New headset bearings.
    • Brakes: Side pull brakes with new pads front and back
    • Wheels: 36h steel rims which has been re-tensioned and trued. Tyres are 700x28mm and there is clearance for 32mm. Brand new front tyre fitted
    • Gears: 36-48t 44t cottered cranks, no play in the bottom bracket. 5 speed rear freewheel, Simplex gearset. Chain is good condition.

I chose colourful outwer cable colours so hopefully they'll be to someone's taste!

The bike rides well and all parts show minimum wear so you will be good for a few thousand miles!

    Price wise, I am after £200 -> £190 -> £180 -> NOW MOVED SOMEWHERE ELSE for it.

Test rides from Gresham Street EC2V 7NQ, between Bank & St Pauls.

Photos below - thanks for looking!

  • Price Drop Bump

  • Good to see you again @FixedCheese - I hope you find something more suitable for the wife.

    In the meantime, Price Drop!

Surely there must be a lovely lady in your life who needs a little mixte??

  • Price Drop and updated pick up location (EC2V 7NQ)

If this bike was to become more than an occasional ride, I would suggest upgrading the front wheel to an alloy rimmed one, and the front caliper to a modern long reach one.

I have a new front tyre on its way from Planet X so I will fit it when it arrives

  • That is a delightful bike and a perfect starter bike. I'm tempted. I bought my wife a small charge plug as a starter nd she doesn't like it. This might be more suitable. If your latest buyer doesn't work out let me know. Thanks. Mel.

  • @MetalMelly the person interested can only come to view the bike at the end of the month so in the meantime, it is still available.

Happy for you to take it home for your wife to try.

  • I have now fitted a brand new front tyre at the massive expense of £3.99.
    Hutchinson Gumwall 700c x 28mm

I have looked at the front brake so it is more efficient.

The price remains the same, the pick up location is THE CITY - EC2V 7NQ

Photos attached so I don't get told off by the thread bumping police
