I noticed a radio message from the doe in NI to pedestrians "please be careful, if you have headphones in, or stare at your phone you may not be aware of others".
No idea if it was inspired by this case, as they run ads on cycliat having to use lights (psni is doing spot checks), safe overtaking of cyclists by motorists (now also checked by psni much motorist whinging a on the psni facebook page etc..
As Oliver already pointed out, peds can legally cross where they want. Maybe ads are the way, but perhaps adding cycling and road safety to the curriculum is better?
