Once upon a time from the sleep screen I could swipe right on a previewed whatsapp message , press the home button and the phone would unlock and go straight to the swiped message. Not anymore though. Does anybody know how I can re-enable this feature please.

What happens if you press and hold on the message on the screen? On my text messages now, there's no swipe across on the lock screen. Instead I do the iPhone 6/7 harder than normal press on the screen. I think you can change what it does there in the security settings.
