Doing a 200 in under 11 hours after three the three previous days is very impressive, Clive.

I was accosted by a strange man at the cafe today. Turned out to be MetalMelly who had ridden out to Cambridge on a single speed to join me on the ride home. I have to say that I enjoyed drafting him but, as the picture attests, he slipped behnd me for some of the journey.
1000 km done. 1000 km to go.

Livin' on a prayer.
Excellent work so far. And home early(ish) again today.
I will donate on Friday. Are you riding straight to Mile End for the Clapton game, or are you planning on getting back with enough time to shower and change first?

I meant to join Clive at the start but slept in. Instead I chased him all the way to Cambridge and found him at the café. Great ride home. But x 10? Chapeau doesn't cut it.

That rather prompts the question: Why aren’t you riding 3000 km in 15 days?
This bit is hilarious:
Our conversation grew more fascinating and something suddenly fell into place. “We’ve met before,” I said. He looked surprised. I then reminded him of a reception for diversity in insurance that I had attended a couple of years ago and where I had met him and his wife.
Then the conversation really flew.

Hey Clive, love reading your updates and fair play to you. I'm actually going to ride your route on Saturday so I'll look out for you :)

Et tu Clive-O
Et tu?He had heard of my challenge on the London Fixed Gear and Single Speed website, a community of rather extreme cyclists
[who have been hugely helpful to me]

I was trying to find a few words to describe this place succinctly for normal people.

I could do it in one, but probably best not to use words like that on a blog.

This is weird. Now I've ridden with Clive my day is punctured with thoughts of his progress. Has he completed the DNA sequence? Does Barkway hark, 'Away!' Has Much Hadham had 'im ? Will effing Epping find him sapping? Wherever you are Clive you're past halfway. Keep it up. Count it down. Soon be over.

It's the effect Clive has on you. When you're with him, you just feel compelled to feed his incessant appetite for puns of any description. It's very hard to run out of ideas, such are the heights of creativity to which he inspires you.

Good work Clive. How's the route? Might mix it up with the river lee path.

I rode out to join Clive yesterday using the Lee Valley Park tow path. Combined with Clive's route it's as good as it gets London to Cambridge; quiet, undulating and pretty.
Glad you have got over the worst hopefully and the weather is getting warmer this week . When the donate page works again i,m sure many of us will contribute.
