• Yes, I guess weight is similar once you have accounted for sealant, and unlikely to be a primary reason for switching to tubeless.

    Consider the Schwalbe 'Pro' range:

    • For a 28c tubeless (i.e. Pro One) it's 2 x 275g = 550g
    • For a 28c 'normal' + tubes (i.e. Pro) it's 2 x (245g + 105g) = 700g

    I imagine that sealant would use up some of that 150g difference.

  • sealant is about 100 grams for road tires.

    Add 80g to the tubeless for tape/valves/sealant. Tubed tyres will still need tape or Veloplugs, but if you're a weight weenie 105g is some porky tubes. It wouldn't be hard to get the tubed set up below the tubeless.
