Yes, in fact these are only 7 speed, as you say- rather confusing seeing as the freehub body length actually is pretty identical to an 8 speed one, but what prevents an 8 speed cassette fitting is a deep spacer type arrangement that leaves a good few mm's between largest cog and the spokes:) I had thought of fitting a NOS 8 speed freehub body to the hub, but the faff involved isn't really worthwhile just so I can sell the hubset.
