Sadly, throwing one's self to the floor has been part of the game for years now and this has also coincided with the decline in refereeing standards. The two have put me off football rapidly over the last couple of seasons

I don't get this vitriol at players who leave for more money or to play at a higher level. Its impressive when people don't take it, but its natural to want to progress and have more money for retirement. Can't knock ambition. I'd love some more money, who wouldn't?
Woods isn't from Leeds, he's not been there that long and from what I can tell has never claimed to be 'Leeds for life' or anything like that. Every club is a stepping stone (on the way up for younger players or down when their legs go).

This.
He played for us and wasn't good enough for a regular start in the premier league. He dropped down, worked hard and is back for another go. Can't fault that.
Also; who the fuck doesn't want to escape Leeds!?

Something I'm proud of yet not a sniff of a mention until 3 days later by the oh so predictable media
Everton started with 8 English players v City, the highest number since 1996
Even more heartwarming is that 3 of them were teenagers and more than held their own against City's millionaire playthings
Excuse the Daily Fail link 🙏🏼

Oh and Tuchel to replace Conte in the next few days

Indeed. How's your German?
Seems like he'll be gone way before Christmas

Conte just signed an extension on his contract in july so if chelsea were to pull the plug it will cost Roman a lot of money with a pay off.
-
• #137644
Not an extension.
Antonio Conte has finally put pen to paper on a new contract at Chelsea, whom he steered to the Premier League title in his first year in English football, to ease any immediate concerns over his future, though the Italian has not extended his commitment to the club beyond the next two years.

ok not exstention but commited to 2 year deal, so will still cost Roman should he get the sack, hope its just paper talk but tuchel wouldbt be a bad replacement.
-
• #137646
So he got a pay rise but either him or the club did not want to commit further. That really suggests that things weren't all OK with at least one party. Therefore I think it can be taken as evidence that Conte leaving increased in likelihood.
And when has paying someone off ever stopped Roman?
-
• #137647
I suspect the underlying cause (apart from them being Leeds fans obviously) is the pain in realising that their spell in the sun is over for the foreseeable and they have to accept that Burnley are at the moment a bigger club.
It must really screw up their "we deserve to be in the premier league" narrative.
-
• #137648
Are you back in HK? Just saw the lovely weather over there...
-
• #137649
agreed its not stopped Roman before. To change the set up after pre season and just after beating the 2nd strongest team away from home is just daft....Q Tuchel unveiling next week.

Yeah Typhoon last night, not so bad where I am trees down & few windows broken, Macau got it pretty bad and places near the sea were flooded with storm serge.
They should report them but I agree with your suspicion that Barca are beyond reproach. Not that I feel sorry for Liverpool, but on the surface it's hard to see the difference between the Van Dijk situation (for which Liverpool were forced to desperately apologise) and what happened with Coutinho.
I'm sure there was a real internal struggle at Liverpool between 'take the £120m+' vs 'fuck Barcelona, no matter what'.
