Needs gold hardware to finish the look properly.
Cost: a lot, apparently :)...

Yes, his guitar is beautiful. It got that way through being used by him. A $10,000 reproduction of it is dead, no matter how perfect a copy it is.

Meh. I bet it was a fun project to work and try out. You don't have to buy it.

Anyway, I thought the expiry date for internet opinions on relics was sometime in 2006?

I just got into guitars and I'm experiencing a rush of interest and enthusiasm (obsession).
I have since realised that this relics thingy is kinda the SPD vs Flats shit debate equivalent. I tried to deflect on to discussion about Amp modelling but that Gretsch brought me back.
I apologise for the whippersnapperish comments and general boredom the topic may have caused. It was new to me!!

Picking this up later. Low end Yamaha RGX-110. Getting a new trem, poss EMG pickup and general clean. Cheap shredder for my cheap shredding tendencies. Love the single pickup, no tone pot. Dislike output jack socket location.

Been watching loads of That Pedal Show and getting back into the idea of playing plugged-in again. Last night finally got round to digging out the Tele. As it was late I plugged straight into Logic running Softube Vintage Amp Room and the Logic Pedal Board. It sounded fucking terrible. Worse than that though... I have totally forgotten how to play electric guitar. I SUUUUUCK. Urgh. Going to be a long road back.

^^Looks like my first ever guitar (top right)

It does look like that! Mine is an '86 Yamaha RGX-110, the first rung on the RGX ladder. Taiwan's least finest bedroom shredder axe.
I wonder if they were made in the same factory? They're very similar looking.

Oooh baby, that's a beauty.
Really interesting details on it. Is it old?

Not really, March 2006

I looked them up, really nice looking guitars. I love the little plate on the body just at the end of the fretboard and that pickup selector switch is rad!
So, remember that Billy Corgan sale on Reverb?
This makes $10,000 for an exquisite wreck look like chump change.

Jebus. That pic of the Argos catalogue is engraved in to my mind. When I started playing the Argos catalogue was like the equivalent of looking on eBay.
Seriously considered that encore with flyspec amp. Seemed almost rational at the time.

Admired for his inspiring playing ability and songwriting prowess
It's weird, he doesn't really strike me as one of those guitarists that people look up for their skill

His slide playing is legendary...

I shall have a listen with a more (perhaps less) critical ear. I have never really understood The Beatles. braces for flaming from #BESTBANDEVER cultists
-
• #4996
^^What? Ok now I know yr trolling
EDIT: on the Harrison skill comment. I'm not going to flame anyone for not sharing my enthusiasms tho.

I like George, he's no Keef but he's deffo my favourite Beagle...

Had a big discussion about this the other day.
I can't stand the Beatles. Paul McCartney is an inspid beige mess and John Lennon is a wifebeating misogynist.
But chuck a Beatles record on - Revolver, Sgt Peppers, White Album - and it's very hard not to enjoy it. Incredible songwriting.
I think they're one of those bands where the smugness of boomers gets in the way of enjoying them.

Same, I can quite happily listen to them but I fucking hate everything about them...
Apart from George... Paperback Writer... The German single... They're all great...
Malcolm Young is a fucking God!!!
That's a famous guitar, given to him by his brother's bandmate, Harry Vanda from the Easybeats... He stripped the original red finish back and took all the pickups he didn't use out... It's beautiful...
