Do you want anything from them?
Nothing I can think of at the moment.

What plant is this?

Salal/gaultheria? Maybe ask in the gardening thread also, as they'll have a better idea.
Edit: yup, looks pretty close to gaultheria shallon

Will my girlfriend notice the difference between a Nexus IGH (internally geared hub) and a Alfine IGH? She's probably a confident/competent amateur.
I'm building her a daily with an IGH, to upgrade from SS, however the reviews etc all seem to written by someone with no idea or touring cyclists who ride heavy shit.
I'm tempted to go down the nexus route, however is the difference in performance worth the huge jump in price? -

does the frame use disc brakes? Alfine
Otherwise nexus

Rim Brakes.

The Alfine 11 has the oil lubrication which strikes me as much more sensible than the grease lubrication of the Alfine 8 on my shopping bike. If you're looking at the 8spd nexus then don't bother, go for the Alfine. If you want the 3spd, get a SA instead.

Good places to get the Velcro on cuffs replaced and elastic drawstring in hood replaced on a Goretex jacket? Grazie

Just had a look and there's 5mm hanging out the bottom so I might get some 20s as well and try them out. #weightweenie

Is there such a thing as a quill adapter for running a 1" ahead stem?
-
• #85612
Regular quill adapter + 1/8" inverse shim.
-
• #85613
Last time I needed a 1" - 1.125" ahead shim, the shop pulled it off a quill adaptor. Not all quill adapters are 1.125".

I got a second-hand MBP because it offered the best performance/HW spec for the price compared to a new Windows laptop. YMMV.

Where sells SwissStop pads central/West End?

Mac Book Pro.
-
• #85618
Well that isn't very surprising. Shouldn't you have compared a second-hand non-Mac laptop too?
I always buy 2nd hand (good condition/refurbished) ThinkPads. About £300 for something high end a couple of years previously.

Absolutely! Though one big factor in my decision was that I'd never used an Apple product and wanted to see what all the fuss was about.
There were other criteria as well, but yeah, I'm not really arsed about an Apple vs. PC debate.

... Apple vs PC? No idea what you mean, obviously I only use ObscureLinux.
(Not really.)

Unless battery life is important I'd generally look second hand at laptops. I don't know about Macs (possibly not as big bargains to be had I suspect) but with Windows laptops there are always loads of business refurbs on ebay or whatever. Generally in very good condition with decent specs for £200-£300 (more if you want super powerful or super lightweight). Lenovos or Dells tend to be the best in my experience.

Non Apple certified MacBook repair in London, can someone make a recommendation? I have an old MacBook and anyone official won't touch it and don't supply parts for it anymore, but the oem parts are available.
