What did I complain about most on Twitter?
Three SIM - shit
Garmin - not waterproof enough
Gore overmitts - split after two wears
LightBicycle rim - cunted
ISM PN1.1 - Doom
Castelli Jersey I returned after last year's race -

What happened with the rim? I have 2 pairs of their rims, never had issues...
- i don't read most of what you post on twitter.

Japanese Odyssey 7.5 days (of 13) in: Yusuke Ochiai has passed segments 1-6 (of 9): over 2,000km done, Andrej Zaman follows, having completed less segments. He now rides closely to Sogon Yoon who, like many of the riders were not able to reach segment 2, Ryoji Nemoto also rides strong having only missed segment 2. Other riders have chosen to scratch or ride to different segments.

Tyres don't seat unless overinflated. I presume it's something to do with gripping TL rim hook.

use tubeless tyres?

• #1432
You've not been on the tubeless thread for a while I take it...

Can I do that and IPWR for a NSEW completion and bonus level?
-
• #1435
You'd just need to ride round the north and west coasts to complete a lap

Easy peasy. Who needs work?!

Japanese Odyssey 9.5 days of 13: Ochiai is now on the final segment 9, it seems his aim was to at least touch each segment which he has done, 2,684km completed. Zaman and Nemoto follow a segment behind, riding together. The other active riders move southwards, presumably aiming for the finish in Kitakyushu.

I've been watching a Japanese series with a guy riding around the countryside. Looks lovely.
I mean, I've been there, but I never cycled anywhere. Another one to add to my todo list... -

Garmin - not waterproof enough
You were using a 1000 weren't you? What were your 'not waterproof enough' symptoms?
-
• #1440
Yeah. The 1000 fails to prevent water ingress into the SD slot. You must've caught wind of my rants before, no?
-
• #1441
Not about water ingress, no, just generally positive vibes about the 1000. I'm currently trying to work out whether to spend money getting mine fixed out of warranty (if that's possible) after it died on the Tour Transalp due to water ingress, or whether it's money down the drain because it'll just happen again.

Mine did dry out both times but it lost me a couple of days use in TCR last year and it cost me a 300k audax validation this year. I've since filled the SD slot with silicone grease and tapped the slot shut and added a silicone case. No trouble this year's races but there was far less rain.

Sounds nice, do you have a link to the series?
-
• #1444
It's just something my Tivo recorded automatically. I have it set to record anything with cycling, biking, etc.

Actually that was easy, it's this:

Thanks hippy.

There is another show I've been catching snippets of but I have no idea about that one. I'll see if there's any episodes left.

Heads up, if anyone is looking for something to ride: we'll have an unsupported event going through Finland in less than a month: https://www.randonneurs.fi/ruska-ride-across-finland-info-page/
The roads and gas stations are pretty good, if you pick the right route. The scenery should be nice. The northern parts will be rather remote. It will not be too warm. About 1800km.
Rather soon after the TCR, and not sure if I can be away from work again but I'm planning to ride.

Totally forgot to link that. The lad riding is called Mike Rice and I've met him a fair few times (works for Neil Pryde here).
If people ever end up in Japan, I'd be more than happy to guide a ride or three.
It's a bloody spectacular country to ride in.

I'm going for a week next year. Any suggestions on a region (or two) to base myself in for good riding?
I follow you on twitter, it's ok thanks!
Please, tell me what was the worst piece of kit you have used to date?
