You're not missing a lot to be honest, Carlton is just wittering on about duty free and tax and criticising the moto drivers.

Bloody Eurosport app just forced me to upgrade. It won't work without location on and since I'm in Spain I now have Spanish commentary and no option to change it. :(
I'm normally in Catalonia for the last week of the Vuelta and look forward to the Spanish commentary on TVE (even though I don't speak Spanish). It's certainly better than Carlton Kirby.
They do split screen during adverts too with the coverage on one side of the screen, advert on the other.
