  • Do they have one yet? I think they were waiting on the current account / sort code functionality as of a few weeks ago

  • the few times I have managed to do that its been by myself in a spreadsheet. Its very time consuming to keep a track of everything. especially when I used to get cash out a lot, luckily i dont do that so much anymore.

Btw I have a golden ticket if anyone wants it?

  • Current accounts have started rolling out as an option for early sign ups. again it'll be a staggered/phased roll out apparently so they can manage demand properly.

Cant find where I had read that, it might have been in one of the links on the previous page.

  • Current acc's are iOS only though right?

no, initially it was but thats been expanded already. I had to google the answer

  • I was in the White Horse on Parsons Green (the Sloaney Pony) and about half of the people paying seemed to be using these cards. I was pondering if it's the new form of pocket money, parents load up the cards for their kids to spend.

Do the current accounts offer any advantages over a traditional bank? The main selling point for me with the card is the lack of fees for overseas transactions but the majority of banks don't charge for a current account.

  • From what I can see, no. Aside from speed of sign up and instant notification of spend, alongside better customer experience I cant see any benefit, I wont be signing up for what would be my 6th current account anytime soon...

  • That sounds like something you should be able to do - did you venture into the forum? (their one, not this one)

  • Question, I do a bit of overseas travel for work, and have recently starting getting work to put funds for shoots and my per diems onto a personal account which means I get charged a percentage for every overseas transaction and withdrawal, I'm wondering whether monzo or revolut or maybe a Halifax clarity card would be best for foreign transactions (no fee for overseas usage), apologies if this question has been answered previously..

  • Revolut currently doesn't charge for card transactions, cash withdrawal is limited to £200 a month but no charge.

Halifax Clarity - no charge for card transactions, interest charge for cash withdrawals. It's a credit card so will have a credit limit (although theoretically in the thousands I'd expect).

Monzo - currently doesn't charge for card transactions, cash withdrawal is possibly limited (maybe £1,000 a month, the website isn't very clear) but no charge.

  • Actually, these are the Monzo limits, they're on the app

  • If you still have it, I would be interested!

  • Unfortunately not anymore. A colleague at work snaffled it up.

  • No worries, it was a long shot ;)

  • I used the link posted above somewhere about two weeks ago and got the card 2 days later. No need for a golden ticket

  • I did try that but to no avail, cheers though

  • Got a few golden tickets if anyone wants.

  • Also just discovered this link is still working:

    https://monzo.com/moneysavingexpert/

The stupid verification video nearly made me abandon the whole thing

  • yes please

  • Pm me your email.

  • done, cheers

  • Anyone need a golden ticket?

  • I used the link @Indexed posted above and worked fine. Got the card in two days, no need for golden ticket!

  • Got a current account invite :)

(I just expressed an interest when they asked a few months back. Spent about 6k on the prepaid since Jan, if they use length of service or spend to pick people)

  • Yeah its a bit strange this golden ticket lark, I just signed up via their website and got the card a day or so later. Not sure what benefit it brings.
