  • This was the first month I committed to it.
I did my budget and lumped it all on my Monzo card.

    Unsuccessful experiment.

I went over my budget but the way the app slices the spend data really gives me no understanding of where.

My spending in Pret for work lunches (for example) is lumped in with a Sunday lunch bar tab for the family at the weekend.
They are two different things, and things that come out of different nominal 'budgets'.

To be really useful the app needs to start allowing user defined spend categories.

  • pretty sure you can change payment categories, click the payment then select the category under the Value and then you can select an alternative.

used mine for traveling and saved a bomb on fees, also had payments returned in america as the transactions were not validated by the bars/restraunts.... #thereissuchathingasafreelunch

  • Yeah - you can move the spend to another generic category, but you can't define a category.

Ideally I want to set up a category for spend on lunches and food during the working week, spend on booze (shop and bar and pub), spend on social travel vs commuting travel etc

What I am really after is a system where I set the categories, then I tag and allocate a spend to one of my defined categories as and when they appear in app.
Which, as I understand, is much more in line with what BBank are doing.
