As you're competent with a stick, then a wire feed unit would be a walk in the park for you.
With a +5mm piece in the flat or horizontal positions you can turn everything up and use spray transfer mode, which is a doddle.
I spend a lot of time on the internet looking at welding stuff, and some of the stuff people pull off with mig is just astonishing.
