  • I just finished painting this, polar dazzle camo. Current set up is clipless but I will be changing between flat pedals now and again. Functional shopper runaround. Excuse the spacers-the fork is also for the gangsta which has a longer HT.

  • seeing your picture made me want to try again the carbon cx fork, it look good but the steering seem so much slower then with my other shorter steel fork. what's your feeling about this combo !

  • I've ridden the fork on both this and the BMW and the steering is ever so slightly slower due to less weight therefore momentum but it is just as comfortable and the weight savings and aesthetics make it the preferred choice for me. A faster, more responsive front end makes a big positive difference I think

  • Does somebody has a size M pompino frame for me? I`d be glad!

  • oi get in line!;)

  • Had a confusing problem on the way in to work.

The rear mudguard bolt that screws into the monostay had wiggled loose and was preventing the wheel from turning. I can't believe that's the first time it's happened in five years. Needless to say, it took me ages to work out what was happening, because there was no visible obstruction.

  • Size small pompetamine with CK headset and Bontrager carbon disc fork anyone?

  • @Hodia 's pomp

  • I put mine back together again.

  • What fork is that?

  • Thanks :-)

  • Is anyone selling a small pompino or pompetamine ? Frameset or full build. I'm in Leeds but can cover postage or travel.

  • Thanks for promoting <3

  • So nice but a bit too fancy for me unfortunately! Just after a winter beater.

  • I don't really know much about MTBs and that, but to what extent can a pomp be taken offroad and what are the limitations?

Flat bars and big (-ish) tyres are possible, as is gearing (should you wish). Boingy forks will slacken the angles too much (I think?). What else?

  • Toe overlap.

Rear is limited to 35, so you'll want to keep the weight off it.

A longer fork and/or bigger rolling radius on the front tyre will shift your weight rearwards.

Theoretically, a 26x 2.3-2.5" or 650b x 1.7-1.9 tyre should have about the same rolling radius as 700x35mm, depending on pressure and knobble height.

  • Rear is limited to 35

Depends on what generation the frame is.
I had 42c knobbly tyres front and rear on my V4 without issues.

  • Thanks - worth pondering...

  • Did it with parts laying around. Maybe would it be better with a more cross handlebar to make it a true monster !

  • is that the short or the long version of the fork?

  • How does it handle with that fork?

  • I didn't test it yet, but seems not bad. Wheeling is very easy, should be easy to blow the rear tire !

  • Taking a leaf out of the book of @Hulsroy โ€” 1x10 geared Pompino.

X9 shifter on modified swing clamp. Full outer cable (with swish cable tie routing). X7 10 spd derailleur on removable hanger. DT Swiss 350 hubs on th540 rims. The idea being it's easy to swap from 1x10 to fixed just with a wheel / chain / chainring swap.

Needs a bit of fettling stillโ€”I want to cold set the spacing when I get a chanceโ€”and also put a 36t cassette on, tidy up the baggy cable routing, etc. Still, it's working and fun. Only other drawback at the moment is I can't fit my Challenge 33c's and also have enough room for the tensioner on the removable hanger (the tensioner fouls the cassette / chain if wheel too far back in drop outs).

Now proof of concept done and working, thinking I might as well just get a hanger brazed on ahead of a new paint scheme in the Spring.
