You can get most of the cardio you want on a Saturday training. Especially at the end of the first and second and sessions when they stick 20 laps on the board you can do full lap turns or find a fast group and suffer to your hearts content.

See you on Saturday then ;)

Two years away from the track and it's has taken it toll, time didn't stay still for me and instead people are getting faster and faster and I've become a fat plum trying to hold with my dear life. Back to the drawing board.

Good to see you down there though!

Likewise! Congrats on your new off spring!

Should be heading down tomorrow for inters (and as a test to see if it's worth my time going for novice cat at Thundertrack). Anyone else?
-
• #3783
What is the measure? Would you need to be at the front of inters and stay in until the end of each session to decide to race?

• #3784
Number of instagram likes for the moody photos of the track.

After they stick up 20 laps on the board at the end of each hour do some full lap turns, see if I can tag on and then contribute to faster groups (safely!), and probably most importantly see what recovery level I have if we do a sprint drills.

It's always worth it. The novice cat is a great introduction (and route back into) racing. If you're doing inters sessions then you should be more than comfortable in the novice category.

You can enter even if you're not on Instagram! ;)

• #3789
Yeah, but can you win?
-
• #3790
I can't win, because I'll be being all moody with a megaphone at trackside for the photos. Y'know... for the likes.
Novice category won't have anyone higher than Cat 4 taking part. We had a mixed field last year, it's a great introduction into racing. I'm pretty sure YAL could be there or thereabouts. We have podium prizes for every race as well as overall winners. That's 12 prize winners per race across the four categories.
Last year, VCL's Jacob Vaughan swept the board in the main category ahead of others that are more #fixiefamous on teh internetz.

Well not sure about Thundertrack but what I did learn is that I'm not fast and I don't have a very nice bike
-
• #3792
Going to the novice training tomorrow to get back into it. I've only ridden HH a couple of times.
Currently on a 50x16 (84.4 GI) my next option is 48x15 (86.4 GI).
Any advice on what grear for the novice session tomorrow?
-
• #3793
48 x 15 is what the hire bikes are on. I would go for that or slightly higher if possible.
-
• #3794
As I thought - time to get the tools out.
Am I able to track the session with a watch or bike computer or is this against the rules with having accessories on the bike?
-
• #3795
yeah that's fine. The only rule is that you can't have a garmin nor gps in a position where you can see the screen. So put it under your stem or under your saddle or in your pocket.
-
• #3796
Cool, speed and cadence sensors allowed?
-
• #3797
Yeah they're fine.
-
• #3798
Thanks for your help. I'll rock 50x15 and see how it goes
-
• #3799
No worries, I'll be there tomorrow too.

Cool I'll be riding this

Come say hi
Scott
How do Saturdays compare to Race Training Mondays, is it more skills or can I expect a damn good thrashing?
I ask because I'm doing a skills session all afternoon with my club, 4 hours of skills might be overkill for one day.
