Superstar own brand rims are flexy as they try to save weight over stiffness
Arc22 is a Kinlin XR22T afaik. Comparing with DT R24 wheels, you have roughly the same outside dimensions made from only 80% as much metal, and the R24 spokes are thicker than XRays too. In a 20/24 build, they're going to be a bit under-resourced for Clydesdales, but I wouldn't expect anyone under 75kg to have any trouble.

80kg
If they have any ARC31s at a good price, I'd go that way regardless of rider weight, in 99% of circumstances the better aeros will trump the small weight penalty.

They have the 31's at the same price only problem is they're red anodized. Not sure I could live with that!

I had Arc22s. I'm 75kg. They were flexy as fuck and would rub on the brakes out of the saddle. Sprinting they were a nightmare unles you had the brakes backed right off. The 31s might be better.

Many thanks,
but cannot get the code to be accepted,
either for the Arc 22 or Arc 31s.Maybe the internet's way of telling me to look elsewhere.

I have the arc31 version.
I like them. Can't say much about flex because even less than 75kg.Think I paid 150£. They always have those deals.

That's good to hear, definitely a no so.

Any good deals on carbon clinchers at the moment?

Any recommendations for road wheelset 32/36 Shimano 9s which come in silver, under 200€?

As you would, if you're after something ready made.

Need advice. Need a wheelset for my Equilibrium.
First option was to go full bongo, Dynamo hub, Hope rear, the new Open Pro UST disc rims. Around about £450 all in - though the new Shimano RS505 CL Disc road hub could knock £100 off that.
Then I've seen wheels like the Prime Peloton Disc which seemingly offer pretty much everything you could want, apart from a Dynamo for 1/3 or 1/2 of the price of the other options.
The tart in me wants the handbuilts, but if I go for the Primes I could have the bike on the road a month earlier. At the moment I'm leaning towards handbuilts with the cheaper hub - can someone justify this/tell me i'm being silly?

can someone justify this
The only reason to buy boutique hubs is to get something Shimano doesn't make

While a dynamo is nice an audax season incl. LEL can be done with a battery light.
-
• #7917
You might be able to rebuild the front on a dynamo hub ..

Hello, what do the good folks think of Hope Hoops, I'm looking at a pair of open pro on Mono RS road hubs. I'm only 65kg and just after something for club rides.
Cheers.

Mixed reviews on the hub that the R24 uses, pawls rather than the normal DT ratchet. Although I guess pawl hubs have been working pretty well for the majority of people for a while...
-
• #7921
They're good hubs, if a bit noisy. Don't buy anything with the old Open Pros.

I popped a couple of spokes and the freewheel became very sticky after 2000 ish miles on the disc versions of these. Not overly impressed.
-
• #7923
What did DT say?
-
• #7924
I didn't contact them. Replacement freehubs were £50-60ish and I assumed popping spokes would be 'wear and tear'. Got a set of chinese carbon clinchers with novatec hubs, have done 3000ish miles on them without any issues at all :)

Starting to explore dynamo options and I read @umop3pisdn post.
I'd like a dynamo so I can commute and potentially night riding in the lanes.
What combo of hub, disc rim (wideish), and light could I look at?
Good to hear, I'm not sprinter either and weigh 80kg.
These will be replacing a pair of Mavic Aksum Elites as my everyday wheels. Hoping they'll be lighter, comfier and a bit quicker.
