But would you really go with those over a set of Rotors? I prefer the look of the Rotors, and they're actually lighter than the Rinpoch set. Any other reason to choose one over the other?
-
• #103
I wouldn't go for either ;)
-
• #104
Okay - what would you choose? 75DD?
-
• #105
It's only personal preference. 75DD or FSA carbon
-
• #106
I've considered both. At the moment, I'd like Rotors, or FSA Pro Carbons, but I haven't found pro carbons for sale thus far. I'll have another look for a set.

Bars, grips, and (hopefully) saddle are arriving today. Will update with some decent quality pictures later on.

Go with dds. Or Rinpoch>Rotor from experience.

Anything wrong with the Rotors, or is that your preference? I'm only geared Moreno towards Rotors because I've wanted either Rotors, 75DDs, or FSA Pro Carbons, and I've found a pair of Rotors cheaper than price of DDs without a chainring, and I haven't found any FSA Pro Carbons for sale recently. Also, I think that the Rotors would really look the part on my Cinelli, and am not such a fan of the look of the Rinpoch cranks

Looks like I'll be taking a set of Rotors off @c4shr. They're less than the price of 75DDs without a chainring, and I only hear good things about them. I also wanted black cranks, and it seems like everyone and their mothers has Sug75s or 75DDs in silver. Also, no one will convince me that Rotors won't look the absolute dog's bollocks on this bike.
If you have any objections, speak now, or forever hold your peace.

Ordered a saddle in the Planet X summer sale, paid for next day delivery, and isn't here, 4 days later. Anyone else had trouble with them recently?

• #113
Ive heard stories of the rotor spider working loose with skidding. Def keep an eye on it

It looks to me like that's only a problem with the newer model, as opposed to the older one, with the EDM Disco-Ring design

This ordeal over which cranks to choose is getting a little silly. I'm hearing that Rotors will break, that Sug75s aren't much different to 75DDs but DDs are more bling (because reasons), that Omniums are stiffer than FSA Pro Carbons... I need to stop listening to the internet.
What do?

FSA Vision, Miche* Pistard Air?

Go with sugdds

stiffer than
You won't notice. Get whichever you like the look of more.

I'd go for DDs, but I'm not finding many people selling them - same with FSA Pro Carbons. I like the look of Rotors, but that's about it - they're probably not a great idea in the long run.
At this point, I think I'll go for Omniums or Sug75s (since I doubt I'll notice any difference between these and the DDs). Would omniums with a decent chainring be right for this build? I think I'm giving the cranks far too much thought.

No omns please
-
• #121
Why no omnomnoms? I'm not a mechanic or anything, and I'm not all too experienced with all this high-end track gubbins, so I am always open to input from those with experience, and knowledge in this area.
-
• #122
Theyre x2 the weight of sugdd, i mean go follow your heart man you can still upgrade if you feel something wrong on the components that youve put init
-
• #123
Omniums are 825g with a chainring and BB. I'm sure that is pretty close to the weight of some DDs with a chainring and BB. Any real downside?

Okay. I've hit a serious snag. I planned on having this bike ready for riding today, and noticed something about my rear wheel.
I bought a HED Disc from Forum member @pullingteth. I assumed that it had cog and lockring threads, so would be fine to ride on the road. This morning, I discovered that this interface is actually just screwed onto some freewheel threads on the wheel, and the wheel actually has no capacity for the use of a lockring. Surely this means that the wheel isn't safe for use on the road, right?
