  • Dave Quinn is still based in Chester, runs a big shop called something like 'The Bike Factory' i think. I'm not sure if he's still branding frames as his own though.
Apparently, a lot of his frames were built by Paul Donohue, who i think was based in or around Liverpool. There are a few Paul Donohue branded frames about, but he's also built frames (and might still do) for Terry Dolan in Manchester and Graham Weigh in North Wales.
    Nice frame though!

  • I also have a Dave Quinn frame, and he does indeed still run a shop http://www.thebikefactory.co.uk/ I did email him once to try and find some info on my bike, he got back to me asking for photos but never got back to me again.....

  • That's my nearest bike shop...

  • paul donohue, thats what i was thinking of the other night.

    Lucky you...

    me too!

it's rubbish in there though, the edge cycleworks is far better.

  • I had a Dave Quinn. Although it was just a Vitus frame made for Dave Quinn. Great bikes grumpy shop staff in the Chester shop as I remember.

  • I have a Dave Quinn (bought off Phasergunalex), very similar to the OP. Alex thinks it's built by Paul Donahue. Donahue built my road bike, but that's branded as a Donahue...

  • cheers for the info all. its good to know a little bit about what your riding.

  • catboy - from the look of that you've got a dia compe clamp-on brake there - how do you find it?

  • its fine, not had any trouble with it at all. doesnt look amazing but ive only been riding fixed a while so ive still got my learning plates on.

  • I was in The Bike Factory last weekend and thought the staff seemed a bit pissed at me cos it was freezing outside or for not instanly wanting it buy one of their pinarellos.
I try and stick to buying bits from Eureka or Wheelbase on the Wirral. Both those stores aren't as well stocked as Bike Factory but they are friendly and really helpful.

You should develop a bit of gravitas - works wonders on 20-ish shop assistants...

  • My mother wants me to build her a geared bike

would this be a good starting point?
