  • Usually pretty easy, but does the lady mind being carried by strangers? One of my university classmates used a chair and our old building had lifts that kept breaking down. He would not let us carry him and his chair for the first couple of months.

  • She made the suggestion, I understand

@hoefla as far as I am aware

The difference between the two venues is that one will host our party for free, including drinks and canapes, and the other we will have to pay for.
    What would you do?

  • Do you know enough people going well enough to determine if they would be ok to help? If so, can you ask them separately if they would do it?

  • If she made the suggestion then that's quite different. I agree with stevo_com better to check that there will be people willing and able to carry, and pre arrange (awkward asking people on the day depending on how well you know them and whether they feel able to say no for whatever reason). But please do consider the rest of the guests, if anyone else has issues with stairs. Are there loos on the same floor as the party?

Edit: just saw your reply. Hurm, I wouldn't rely on random other punters helping on the night. But you could ask the venue if their staff would do it. Or ask your guests to invite able+willing plus ones...
