That photo would work well in bw as well. What are you using? iPhone?

Xiaomi Mi5. Takes snaps quick enough and easy to edit a little. Generally I don't have enough patience to make proper photo's

New story on the blog http://cycletello.wordpress.com
Lots of more pictures and words but they all got deleted twice and I cannot deal with this shit right now so I'm giving up. Hopefully I'll find some patience later. Time for beer. They have Leffe <3

My android phone with Osmand installed. Create a gpx track in ridewithgps.com -> export it to my phone and load it into Osmand. Really easy and worth paying for the full version of the app. I believe it's 50% discounted at the moment

Same as jjjjjj, really enjoying this.

Ok thanks, just downloaded the basic for a trial run, do you have a back up? I'm planning a similar length route so will probably use an old small smartphone with a DIY waterproofing as it's still cheaper than a Garmin and a larger screen

I use Google maps for backup and finding places, but after Bulgaria no more EU tariff mobile internet, so no more Gmaps 🙁. Maybe I'll find a Turkish simcard with data. If you can bear with a slow phone that's a good and cheap setup, I can get really frustrated myself if things don't load fast enough.
Cheers @jjjjjj and @jcac. Glad you're enjoying it
So glad to be in Bulgaria. Diverse landscapes, trees, nature, well stocked supermarkets. Way easier to find places to wild camp too.

I think I've read about these on here. They're made in the UK but never seen these in the NL. Good stuff

Doesn't that reach the end of the eurovelo route?
-
• #271
Yes it does! I think the Ev6 officially goes to Constantsa cause the Donau reaches the Black Sea in Romania but I couldn't bother traveling along the Donau in Romania anymore, wouldn't recommend that stretch. If you are set on reaching the Donau delta I think the Limes cycle route might be a better alternative.
From what I've experienced until now Bulgaria is a great country to cycle, will definitely come back sometime. Maybe cycle the Iron Curtain trail (EV 13). Varna is expensive compared to the rest of the country 😿
@Rodolfo cheers! Will do

Very inspiring thread, amazing that you're out there right now.
How did you end up rigging the electrical stuff? Do you have a USB charger connected to your dynohub, or how are you charging your phone? I figure it will need fresh juice often if you're using it for navigation.

Heya, I had a dynamo to USB converter made by Zzing but unfortunately it broke within a weeks use which was very shitty. Ronald from Zzing sent me a new one but it didn't arrive at the Airbnb I was staying so now I'm just winging it. Two Xiaomi 10000 mAh powerbanks from Aliexpress are enough to keep me going for at least four days. Power sockets are common enough. AAA batteries for the SPOT tracker

Buchel dynamo light works great for charging. has a usb port under body and you can charge mobile phone, just light isn't working during charging. after year of using it, no complains

The future of front loading?

Pretty landscapes. Wouldn't recommend to cycle the Donau on the Romanian side though. Don't know about the Bulgarian side. Next time I'd rather take the Carpathian mountains and fight some bears instead of dogs 😄
