A friend is looking for a bike.

He's a good egg but his budget is fairly limited. Anything cheap but reliable going?

I'm not really fussed, alloy or steel would be fine.

He's going to use it for commuting but I'm happy to do a bit of fettling if necessary to make it more comfortable etc.

It can also be converted to drop bars and normal road tyres :-).

I've a few more similar bikes available but they're north of £200.

This could be up his alley? in the upper end of his price range but I'm up for cutting a deal. Really is a lovely machine.
