  • Good news that you got it back, but isn't the Brooks likely to be stolen, too (though from someone else)?

  • Sure, potentially but how am I going to resolve that?

  • If it was indeed stolen, which you can't know, but which I think is very highly probable (not knowing the circumstances under which you got it back, mind, so I may be on the wrong track here), you may be handling stolen goods. Obviously, it is a sort of substitute for your missing saddle, but that doesn't count. Brooks saddles cost about £100 by themselves (or perhaps slightly more or less, I can't remember the exact RRP), so it's extremely suspicious to get it so cheaply. I can't speak for the police, but I can't imagine that you'd be charged if you took it to them and explained the circumstances, although it may be futile in any case, as it may be impossible to reunite it with its owner.

(One way of checking would be if there are any identifying marks on it. Probably not, as even if a potential previous owner had followed police advice to add some such marking (the police recover an enormous number of Brookses and usually can't reunite them with their owners, as there is no way of telling to whom each belonged, which is why they issue that advice) a potential thief may have removed it.)

Anyway, glad you got it back, it's all too rare for that to happen.

  • Morning all,

Unfortunately another bike to add to the list: A Charge Plug 3 with disc brakes. It's distinctive as the BB has been replaced for a gold one that matches the frame (cf. the stock one which was black).

Stolen from a colleague's back garden in the middle of the night a couple weeks back near Boston Manor in West London - I've only just returned from a holiday and they told me just now, so thought here might be a good place to get the word out!

    Cheers

  • great news, mind sharing how you got it back and carboot details?

  • If the below bike is yours let me know. It's been offered on a Facebook group without pictures and seller that doesn't really match the bike. Could be legit but no harm in checking.

  • Hi everyone,
I had my bike stolen from the roof of my boat yesterday when I was at work. I am in Hanwell, by the fox pub. It's a nothing special bike, but I have had it for 17years. It's called a Boss impact and has a yellow frame, black forks, front suspension, 'v' brakes, hill climbing handle bar extension.
If anyone sees it, please let me know and kill the fuckers!
    Thanjs,
    Phil.

  • Like this one? (Just from google)

  • Yeah the same as that, Just with handle bar extension.

  • Now offering a £750 reward for it's recovery.

Not sure what the problem is on the serial #s as I have all the documentation of original purchase that proves that serial # is mine?

I thought someone else must've had the mod, the other details that make it unique I'm not going to divulge as those will help me identify it in any photo.

  • Last night, riding down Sewardstone road (West side of Victoria Park), 3 hoodied up guys on Boris bikes, ride along side me, tried to kick me off my bike, eventually forced me to stop then snatched my 6 month old Brompton that I've been using occasionally. Oh and they also got away with my laptop and wallet etc. as it was in my (black ortlieb brompton) frame-mounted bag at the time.

Filed a police report and shall keep an eye on ebay, gumtree etc. But would appreciate the collective gaze of lfgss if you see one of these going cheap:

Brompton Black Edition M6L. Was pretty much mint, bought from new, I have frame serials proof of purchase etc.

    Cheers

  • ^Wow...sorry to hear this. Reminds me of something similar that happened in East. I'm sure you have it registered on bikeregister - would advise you to 'update status' so at least its difficult for them to sell on. And create a post on stolenbikesuk.

  • I live down the road from there will keep and eye out and keep an eye out for the cunts that took it as well.

  • Thanks for the tips @c4shr, have updated accordingly.

  • That sounds horrible... seems like thieves/muggers really are going after Bromptons at the moment.

  • If anyone has a Black Fuji stolen with the stem cap in blue saying: you're killing it bro is now on Brick Lane market, guy says 80 for it if it's deffo yours I get it and pay me after.

  • Red hook crit stickers as well. Fixed.

  • One of your jobbies @mdcc_tester ?

  • One of your jobbies

No, never done any blue ones.

  • Saw a black time trial boardman going up Benwell road in N7 that seemed stolen. No lights, it sounded badly maintained, the front wheel did not match the very deep rim rear wheel and the rider's style did not seem confident.

  • time trial boardman...rider's style did not seem confident

    Probably just a triathlenger.

  • A friend in France has been burglarized and almost all of its bikes were stolen. As he lives in Lille there could be a probability of seeing them in UK (or anywhere). A good keyword for searching them could be "banana" as it's its custom paintjobs signature. If you see one please do not hesitate to contact me !
