  • Anyone know if hepco becker panniers fit any other brands racks?
Got boxes, rack hard to get or crazy money, like half value of bike lol.

  • Touratech/Holan may work. I have the latter on my bike. Your welcome to try your panniers on mine, I'm in Glasgow too.

  • @Chak

would have to be dirt cheap to get my antenna twitching.

Idk about dirt cheap, but definitely much cheaper. That much lower mileage one I posted was only £500 more - isn't that basically what the discs will cost you?

If you have tools, can do all the work yourself and access to cost/cheap parts , maybe. But I wouldn't at that price when for a little more you could have a much better example. Also remember when you sell it it your buyers will have the same considerations.

  • You can get better discs made in London for half that price from here ...

    http://www.allbikeengineering.co.uk/

  • That's £500 too much my man; I'm a cycle mechanic in London so already pushing the budget beyond what I can realistically afford, and if it wasn't for the joy of it, I would never be able to support this endeavor.
Suffering some mildly broke ass bike comes as part of the deal in my case, and frankly, I just want to ride some before winter hits.

  • Yes man! Pm inbound

  • Did someone on here have a zx12r? I need a new motorway commuter and I've never been Mr practical. But it looks fast as f and 25l tank. Plus seem reasonably priced.

    Recommend?;

  • Think Phil (P) had one, but he's sold it I think. Plenty of big, interesting motorway bikes around for really good prices - well done by the way.

  • Ha thanks.

Suggestions on options? Going to set up some saved searches on eBay.

  • Depending on your tastes, how much punch you want - mpg, weather protection etc, etc.

For me, the list would include FJR's, 1050's, Bandit 12's some of the newer BMW's are quite funky ( F800 e.g ). There's lots out there - if you're doing lots of miles make sure it's comfortable (i.e clipons bad idea ).

  • Yeah some out my budget. Considered sprint 1050.
Looking to spend £2000. Looking for sports tourer style. Maybe vfr800 but want more poke.

120milea round trip motorway 3-4 times a week.

  • You'll be fine with that budget - recently got the predecessor of the 1050 for well under that and it makes me very cheerful on the motorway.

  • Looked this up yesterday
Stupidly clean and a well sorted set of wheels with much VTEC yo! I imagine it'll sit at a 100mph and doze off doing it.
If it wasn't so bulky, I'd have taken it right there and then, but 240kg wet put me off. Tiny buzz at around 4k, but all creamy after that. Hid it's mass well once moving, but you really felt it maneuvering it at stationary.

    Sprints are also disconcertingly cheap.

  • I love the VFR (one of my "dream" bikes) and that seems quite a bargain? Given your location/theft risk and occupation/income though I don't know why you don't just get a hornet. Is it just you don't like the looks?

  • That's cheap! But dunno if it's a bit slow. Ktm does 120bhp at the wheel and 90ftlbs of torque. So can't help feeling a vfr might be a bit slow! Proberbly a lot more economical than a blackbird!

    Much bargain though!

  • I've spent the past few days moving around testing bikes, and that VFR is a close second by a loooong shot and still niggling at me even now, but It's more of a tourer and I'd rather do that cycling.
I suppose I'm just a weird configuration kinda guy really. I've tried the Hornet/Fazer/GSXR/600RR and to be honest, I found i4's a bit...irritating in their execution of power delivery.
It's the same old shtick of power band hitting at high RPM yada yada. Hornet slightly less so, but still needs to be egged on.
Then I got on a street triple......

@skinny That VFR was baby handled. It was in such good nick and the MOT history is impressively clean. Spun it around up to Enfield on a small loop and the kick on it at 6400rpm is delicious. Not snatchy at all, but you better hold on. It was racier than I expected, but not much wind buffeting. Expected better.
I don't really have much to gauge it on in regards to power, but I can see why people want more. 1000's start to make a lot of sense if you want to eat the horizon.

  • Cbr600f ? Cheap and sporty.

  • Zzzzz. You're talking about blackbirds and you're giving 600f's? If I wanted practical, I'd get the bus. I want something that substitutes coffee in the morning.

  • They're meant to be pretty sporty mate. Plus cheap.
Street triple will be stolen within a month. Cbr00f will last.

  • And yet hornets are so rapid, and pretty much match the performance of the cb1300 big brother. You have to be realistic about what you can actually use in the uk as well.

  • Totally agree, but that's why I enjoyed the SV so much when it did run. I didn't have to be near redline all the time to have fun. The hornet danced and danced well, but it screamed when it was doing that.
@skinny Like fuck any bike I get now will! Garage/Anchor/double chain/disc lock/alarm. Possible upgrade to sleep gas/retina burning laser/nail gun to the knees.

  • See I thought the hornet pulled from quite well through the range and sounded great when it got to higher revs. Tough one. Maybe you should get a cb1300? They redline around 8500 apparently - loads of grunt. Look good too.

  • Love how they look. One cruised past me down Regents the other day. Cruised is an understatement, it glided past.
It's also 250kg odd with no fuel. I'm 70kg in full gear...
Couple more test rides tomorrow, then decision time.

  • So don't drop it?

Seems the only bike that fulfills the criteria.

  • Reckon it'll be a bird. Just practical and good mpg. Will fit my long legs.

If this is abotu when Im back from my holiday! Going to south of france on KTM :)

Will be gutted to sell the KTM :(
