I have a cherry red Gibson SG entirely because of a picture of Angus Young on the cover of "If You Want Blood". Before I could afford the real thing I had an Epiphone version.
(I haven't stabbed myself through the torso with it though, that would be a replication step too far.)

Ah, but that's different to me. Getting a model of guitar they used because you like them is one thing but getting a, in my view, cynical cash-in replica is another.
These weird rules I have for myself...

Give me an Alitalia Lancia Stratos or Rothmans Porsches Turbo any day.
Also how many people here ride in replica cycling kit... You're in the wrong place to challenge fanboy-dom!

I quite like reliced guitars.
Not sure I could be bothered with whether my relic'ed strat was identically as knack'ed looking as SRVs, but each to their own.

...or the right place.
Now, something which isn't me just complaining about things other people do.
I got a Line 6 Pod 2.0 yesterday for headphone practice. It's pretty cool, I think. Anyone have any experience with them?
I was very prepared for it to sound awful but it's a damn-sight nicer than the headphone out on my Orange Micro.
Of course it does make me wince every time I think about it being fake fake fake ;)

If you want fake fake fake that's better than real real real... 😌
Other than for the indulgence of owning beautiful amps there's honestly no reason to own anything other than one of these. The sound quality is exceptional through a good set of monitors.

I've downloaded that image to my hard drive. How do I plug my guitar in?
Srs tho, being able to hear it out of nice headphones or my hi-fi was definitely a selling point. I live in a flat made from a Victorian terraced house, so I can't ramp the volume too much.
That thing looks the biz! I've watched a few "rig rundown" vids now and it would seem that some people use this sort of thing professionally.
edit: 2 grand...eep. Maybe for Xmas

Its very different to all those examples, my guitar doesnt have sponsors slapped all over it but i would happily ride a debadged Cancellara bike or drive a silver rally spec lancia delta! Also I dont gig so it's only for bedroom playing and it really is the trend with guitars, every guitar i have bought over the last 25 years has been inspired by a player or band rather than straight aesthetics. I cant see it being a forever guitar either, i'll probably remove the mastery bits and move it on when i've had some fun, Then i'll go back to my django reinhardt gypsy guitar, my elvis costello jazzmaster, my kurt jagstang, my david bowie 12 string and my robert smith bass vi 😜
(Only one of those is a sig model btw)

I didn't realise who I was up against! haha

I know I said all that shit up there buuuut, this one cracks me up!
Malcom Young Gretsch Jet replica. Removing pickups and charging more for it takes the biscuit.
edit: 10 large, in case you're thinking of getting one.

The single pickup Malcolm signature model is a thing of great beauty...

The fawning is cringeworthy but this guy makes some pretty spectacular sounds in open C with two amps and tremolo.
I didn't know anything about harmonic tremolo until I watched this on the train this morning. Very Interesting.

I used to run a ghetto two amp set up in my Daddy Long Legs days. I'd run my pedals into a clean Classic 30 or a SF Pro Reverb and send a dry signal to a cranked and angry SF Champ. It was great.

Fully on that, looks ace!
Love the single pickup aesthetic. Could be the track bike of electric guitars...
I've got one incoming soon. Will post pics of new project when it appears.
Guitars are defo turning out like bikes for me. Loving it!

I'll leave this here.

Just saw that on Morgasm's FB, holy crap that's hideous...
-
• #4968
I'm sure they'll be bought and kept as "collector item".
-
• #4969
Wow, is that just a white strat with a sticker on it? Low effort.
-
• #4970
It's got a really nasty looking neck on it as well... Painted back and fretboard by the looks of it.
-
• #4971
Yeah, the whiteness of it is kinda tacky. I wonder where it was made and how much they're asking for it.
Oh and which badman is gonna be first to play one on stage?
-
• #4972
It arrived already. very nice! I like it so much i'm tempted to sell my jazzmaster and my jagstang to get something a bit different, a semi hollow long scale, maybe a tele or a rickenbacker
-
• #4973
laughable. - look at all those nobs and selectors for one pickup
-
• #4974
Ah yeah, hadn't even thought about that! They're properly redundant too
-
• #4975
They are for all those different sounds AC/DC make.
:|
I bought my sunburst Les Paul Custom because James Williamson played one, my Les Paul TV because Johnny Thunders played one, got my P90 equipped Mosrite Ventures MkII built because Johnny Ramone/Thunders, white Epiphone Wilshire because of Fred Sonic Smith, Olympic white Jaguar because of Rowland Howard... It's what people do, innit? I'm fifty and still doing it!!!
