• Got this almost for free, plan is rigid fork, guards and rack for winter commuting. Budget parts bin build. Fairly sure the included headset is fucked, frame has a 44 mm id headtube. Does that mean I could get either tapered or straight forks? Time to get with the latest headset jive again. I hate changing standards.

  • Yes, the 44mm headtube is the do it all of headtubes. Depending on the bearings you put in, you can do any size of straight or tapered forks/steerertubes.

And nice find! Frame looks cool and perfect for a rigid build

  • I've got an Avalanche but an earlier model (slightly different to yours anyway).

Pretty sure mine won't take tapered steerer. Unless you can fit an external bearing at the bottom? and have Integrated at the top.

Quite possibly different headtubes on our frames though.
