There's a cut off date (2003?), early HEDs used Shimano based hubs with a splined freehub to shell joint which take Fixxers, later ones have HED designed hubs which don't. Not sure what happened at the crossover from Specialized to HED, so maybe some late Specialized ones had the Fixxer compatible hub or maybe some early HEDs had the 6200 based hub with the threaded-in freehub which is not compatible with any OTP conversion. It's pretty obvious what is what once you have the wheel in your hands and take the freehub off.
