Nitto bullmoose looks dope on Gangsta IMO, should go well with SG75
I've just bought some retro Coda USA crankarms for my next gangsta build. (because I've also bought the V2 for sale few days ago on classifieds)
I would love some matching titanium bits for stem/seatpost/bars but cannot afford them..

I'll second the use of bullmoose bars... I had a pair of flipped Mountain Goats on mine about 5 years ago... Looked sweet!

I got a Cannondale stem from a CAAD on mine. Been planning on swapping it for an Easton and Easton risers.
Those Mountain Goats do look pretty funky.

I'm into the pro chrome stems but they're hard to find in ahead and I don't no if they exist in black, ideally want 130mm -10 or -17 degree if peeps can keep their eyes peeled. Defo black 75's though too if anyone's selling

Those cranks are dope and the bars, bit fussy for me though I think. I'm still riding the wide bar wave

Some on eBay they are top quality

Using this GT tig welded stem from the 90's on my V1. Silver & 135mm, they could be an alternative to the Pro Chrome
They appear on ebay really often

If you're still looking for wheels for the build, these might be worth checking out: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/308953/#comment13794768

I like the gt stems but they're 25.4 right?

75s are shit though. get mangled on a bruiser bike like a brooklyn. unless you go for the DD version
-
• #4963
That's the thing, my V1 is my daily bruiser it gets thrashed, the omniums have held up well through all conditions. Need to draw the line before I get carried away and splash the cash

exactly.. I would only go to 75DD. to me, square taper just isn't strong enough

Id like to have the cinelli bullhorns on my gangster.

Sorry, but this all doesn't make much sense. Using Sugino 75 cranks with a proper bottom bracket is absolutely fine, even if you totally abuse them. Are the new standards/cranks better? No doubt, but SG75 are still fantastic cranks.
They're even used during the Six Days for example:

By that logic we should all be skidding around on £100 tubs?

75s have been fine (though nice and scratched) on my brooklyn for 3 years

I've found my 75DD far more hassle than a normal pair of fit and forget 75s.
When I first fitted my 75DD with a torque wrench as per the setting they were coming loss every 20 miles. only when I just got an allen key out tighten them up as far as I could have they stayed tight but I'm still paranoid and feel the need to check a couple of time a ride. Also the standard bearing don't have a great rep, I've got 1200 miles on mine without issue so fair.

do you think that guy hops up and down curbs daily cycling to work? there is a reason why all modern cranks are not square taper
hate to come across like a twat but trust me, S75s are great but square taper just isnt strong enough for harsh street riding. fine tracking riding where the forces put through them are smooth
edit - i am 85kg so I mangled a pair of S75s in 2 years commuting. probably would have faired better if I wasnt so heavy

well said

I still disagree completely, did you use the sugino track bb? maybe they're weaker, I used a shimano and it's been fine couriering and commuting.
Almost all bike tourers use square taper and find it the much stronger solution. -
• #4974
no it was also a shimano BB. surely bike tourers only use square taper for ease of buying parts from shops around the world when touring?
why did mountain bikes ditch square taper a long time ago?
-
• #4975
Are people really snapping square taper BBs regularly from street riding ?
I've ridden 40,000 plus miles in the last 4 years on square taper without issues, and countless years of mountain biking before that, mainly on square taper, no problem. I also used the shimano hollow tech stuff when it first came out, because it looked flash/new it might have been stiff, but not massively so, the bearing life wasn't great compare to square taper.
Keen to move away from omniums and Thomson finishing kit, thinking 75's but who's on what stems?
