The excitment of hippy finishing must not detract from the epic battle still going on on the road towards CP3.
There are still seven riders involved and it looks as though they are all determined to finish. They are all riding at a sustainable pace. The gaps between them appear small on the map. At one point yesterday Wiesia's dot was obscured by another rider's. They were under a kilometre apart. 500 metres apart, however, can still be very lonely and one has to hope that they will meet at least a couple of others when they reach CP3, if not at "servos" on the route.
#200 Goran Arsovski leads the group with only 62k to go to CP3. He has already covered 36km today. He has been riding 11 hours a day recently and averaging around 200 km. He has moved up the rankings.
Only 5 km behind him is #224 Tina Nestoroska. She has upped her game and has been riding around 13 hours a day and averaging just over 200km a day.
Next come Weisia #53 averaging 12 hours a day or a little more and covering just under 200 km a day. She has 89 km to CP3 and should make it easily today.
#174 Hector Outeiral Nunez is around 18 km behind Wieisa. He is riding slightly less each day, around 10 hours a day over the past three days. His distance has varied quite considerably over those days from 128 km to 226 km. Yesterday he achieved a solid 193km.
#188 Daragh Browne is 111 km from CP3. Again a considerable variance in distance over the past three days: 110/205/188 in 7/9/9 hours respectively.
25 km behind him is #165 Josie Jones with 138 to go to CP3. 182/175/169 in 8.5 hours each day. Good steady and most importantly sustainable time and distance.
Finally the great #130 David Coulon. Max Leonard has written a book about the Tour's Lanternes Rouges. Perhaps David deserves a book to himself. Going by his tweets, he is not suffering too badly from the physical affects of cycling. He put in a hard stint yesterday but is concerned that he is losing ground to the others. He is dropping off the back a little. With 240 km to CP3, he is 100 km shy of Josie. 186/106/202 in 9.4/6.8/11.5 Even if he puts in another massive ride today he will not reach CP3 whereas the others are all likely to reach it.
How much longer? Well we are already on day 14. David is just over half way. 26 days in total? So plenty of time to watch this race unfold.
