Novatec D252SB is the fancy one with an aluminium version:
ebike.hu is a solid webshop. Ask via email/help page if the english translation is cryptic
this is the same hub:
http://www.only-highend.biz/epages/63221174.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/63221174/Products/OH-000065The cheap way is this polish webshop that sells the driver in a steel version separately. They only answered my emails (havnt bought anything there yet) when I sent them pre-googletranslated to polish and got polish answers.

That is the driver from the novatec F176SB hub if you want to find it elsewhere.
For the main hub body d042 is good because it is a chunk of metal! and has a 12mm axle and large flanges. You need to pair up the hub + driver with
either28x12or 28x15bearings depending on the hub + shorten the axle somehow.
A lot of other novatec hubs could work as well looking at the specs/drawings (but needs to be confirmed...)The amazing thing is d042 + short freehub & endcap from d252sb gives exactly 120mm! Axle needs to be tapped with more thread or a new shorter custom axle.

6902 bearings (28x15x7) are 7mm deep and 6001 bearings (28x12x8) are 8mm so if you change bearing type you probably need some extra spacer/washer....Edit from the future: Converting to a 15mm axle is a bit more involved than I expected. The freehub body needs to be drilled out to 18mm. A novatec B freehub spacer is 15/17,5mm so needs a bigger hole.
So it is possible but needs to be modified with a more advanced tools (a drill press and maybe a step drill bit)

Amazing, thank you for all the info. Sounds like you hit the jackpot with the d042, short freehub & d252sb endcap combo! Might take a punt on the freehub to start with.

Great work.
Is that your workshop? Any more pics?

Thanks.
@tallsam I have a small corner / can use the tools in a workshop. The other people here make special effects and custom props.
Unfortunately they are currently making a top secret project for an artist who has an exhibition soon so I am not allowed to show any pictures, because his work is all over the place....(ha ha lazy excuse...)

This build is insane in every possibly awesome way! Not sure if you are looking for ways to hold down your rear brake line but I used some things called Flexroute that worked well when I converted my Pre Cursa to 3 speed. Very clean looking.
Going to be following this very close. Would love to convert my rear to a disc brake -__-

Thanks. I want route the hose along the toptube -> down the seatstay but Im waiting for some more parts for that. -

tri spoke pump holder:
This should help with stabilizing the valve and the pump head.
The idea that it sits permanently in the wheel cutout (9 grams...) and has a slot the same width as the pump adapter: Fit pump adapter and plug a spacer underneath to hold everything in place securely.Seems to work for now.... :)

just got this fork:
12mm thru axle road size
axle-to-crown:370mm/ rake: 40mm
but the special thing is it has a straight 1 1/8" steerer.Quality seems better than the previous dodgy carbon fork...

Nice!always love updates on this bike.

This thread has made my day.

This uhhhmmm, is amazing

Waay lighter than the previous one too and appears 'full carbon', rather than co-moulded legs and carbon steerer shoved into alu crown. Brilliant find!
Is the diameter of the crown where it meets the head tube actually 50mm (on your straight steerer version) like it says in the link? The old fork was about 48mm, and a Pre Cursa HT is 46. If the fork is close to 46 it's going to be very tempting.
Also, thru-axle disc trispoke conversion? :-D New bearing ID + might be end caps from existing hubs the correct width... Gonna be so good! -
• #147
Thanks @aka, @Lanterne_Rouge, @Jaap
Yes the fork is in one piece. Steerer tube is also actually 1.125 inches and not undersized. Crown is 48mm and the whole shape looks like it comes from the same mould as the other fork except dropouts. I am going to check if it has the same tight clearance for the disc rotor or a bit more space.
I have found that the dt swiss 350 12mm/QR/15mm/9mm LEFT front endcap is 18mm and should fit the tri spoke.
Makes the hub 101mm wide. I already have the same bearings in as the 350 hub: 6902 28mm X 15mm
Just need to buy 2 and check. -

Cannot wait to see it!
-
• #149
Ok I fiddled around a bit more with the fork.
...hhhmm the thread for mounting the brake caliper is m5 ..or a loose m5 definitely not m6. That just seems strange.
Crown could also still be 50mm as it tapers of a bit. With a novatec hub with standard rotor spacing (10,5mm) a 160mm rotor has 2mm clearance so that is fine.

Been looking for something like this for aaaaages for my CdF. How long did it take to arrive? Going to get one myself.
More excellent DIY porn! Was coincidentally reading this thread last night to find info on the 5 speed freehub you used with the original Shimano rear wheel on the Pompetamine.
Which Novatec hub does the tiny freehub body come from? This new hub combo would be really useful on a 120mm SSCX setup.
