  • Personal taste innit. Anthony Jackson obviously likes it and Fodera are more than capable of complicated fine inlay work...

  • I'm with Joe on this one.

  • Anyone recommend a cheap and cheerful rehearsal space central-ish?

The grotty places I used to frequent all seem to have closed down

  • Guitar ad of the week...

  • It's actually quite nice that low end Ibanez don't look like absolute dirt and you can't fault the finishing of their high end stuff!

  • Really want one of these and there's a 1979 for sale near me at the moment :(

  • ah wal.

    dat candystriped neck...

Nick Beggs played one before he switched to Spector...

    pull the trigger.

  • My name is Tom and i think i have a problem...

  • as of last week i had these...

but since then i've changed the scratch plate on my blondie and ordered brass rollers and a white switch, i've also sold the purple sparkle jazz master i've just this morning agreed to buy a kurt road worn jaguar. I'm not in a band but i think i have an addiction - where do i get help?

  • I can help. Send me yr Fenders

  • Goddamn that surf blue one. Beautiful.

  • Great looking collection.

  • the one that is winging it's way to me...

I was never sold on 'roadworn' however this isn't random but a replica of Kurt Cobains jaguar, with the added fun of an aged mastery bridge and tremolo which will make it solid as a rock. This is planned to be around the house wherever so i don't mind if it gets knocked (and won't even notice!)

  • Perfect for diving headfirst into the drum kit with

  • Jags are the coolest...

Really enjoying playing my strat but it goes out of tune really easily, could graphite on the nut and locking tuners be the answer?

  • I don't use them, but I've heard good things about Graph tech nuts and saddles for tuning stability.
The saddles aren't very subtle looking mind, don't know if there's any better looking alternatives.

  • I've got one of these, unfortunately it was painted black, still nice nonetheless

  • I'm not sure about all that relicking, road worn and replica business. Seems a bit like ripped jeans to me. Someone in a workshop making it look old even though it's new strikes me as a bit strange.

That said I went to look at a cheapo Epi LP on gumtree. Missing knobs, strap button and lots of lacquer missing around the neck joint didn't do it for me either and that shit was clearly authentic. That or they've got some practice to do before their professional relicking career can take off.

  • It is a bit strange (I have a roadworn strat) but it's often the only way to get a non-poly finish without paying thousands. The benefits of which are debateable though!

  • Whatever it is it'll have to look right with the guitar, no modern, hi-tech rubbish! ;)

I'm sure a new nut would help a lot, will chat to my friendly neighborhood guitar tech...

  • The mastery bridge and tremolo fix all that, i had one on my jazzmaster and its perfection. really expensive upgrade but does exactly what it says on the tin! (i now have to figure out how to gold-plate so i can fit to my blonde JM)

  • yeah i agree, however i like the idea of someone recreating Kurt Cobains guitar exactly as it was - so it's more of a replica than a 'smashed up to make it look used because i can't be bothered'. The big thing for me is that i can lean it up against a wall or slide it onto wooden floor boards with no fear that a knock or scratch will damage it.
We'll see how i get on with it when it arrives but i got it for a price that i won't lose any money on if i decide to sell on

  • No doubt it's a quality instrument, whatever the finish on it!

You and me differ on the replica thing too though. Driving a replica rally car on the road? Wearing full Lionel Messi Barca kit down the park for a kick-a-bout? Painstakingly recreated replica guitar of your musical hero? Weird, weird, weird.

  • My Jag is fine, was talking about the strat...
