at least I finish ;)

I'm in exactly the same situation, for the same event.
I'm also a particularly sweaty bastard so need plenty to drink.
Bought a cheap 2l 'BTR' branded hydration bladder (£7, incl. a cleaning kit, after discount code and arrived free the next day) and sewed a little adjustable webbing neck strap to it to facilitate putting it on/keeping it from sliding down my front. Trimmed the hose down a bit and works very well, no neck irritation (under skinsuit with a Wiggle sleeveless mesh base layer), but just ordered a 90deg valve from eBay because the straight one requires a longer hose. Was going to test it out properly at the WVCC 25, with about 700ml inside, before it was cancelled.
Also got a Shimano Pro 'Aerofuel' rear saddle bottle mount thing, which is just going to have tools, Pit Stop and a rear light attached to it. -

I got a B-twin one from decathlon, they have a 45deg nozzle included and are really cheap. They seal with a bar across the top, but it's not really been an issue for me.

There's a fixed gear category for a 10 run by Fairly United Cycling Team on a course which looks nice and flat on 27 August:
https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/race-details/15818
Anyone else from here likely to enter?

A week earlier and I'd be all over this!

• #16307
I won 3rd in that last year and it's my local course... I might consider stripping the gears off to ride it again but not sure yet... I think there is a 100 I might ride the week after so it depends whether I can be fussed with the rebuild.
FUCT always put on great events and always try to put on additional categories to keep things interesting. They tried to run a ttt on that course a couple of years ago and there was talk on here about trying to enter a couple of tandem teams but I don't think it ever materialised.
Edit: These are the results from last year... hardly a stellar field but an ok turnout for a fixed gear event. It's a decent course on fixed, a couple of bits feel a bit draggy and some bits have recently been surface dressed so are a bit rough, but you shouldn't give up too much time riding fixed compared to gears.

Which 100 you looking at, would like to do another one, preferably not on the farm track that is the a31!

Bugger... I hadn't twigged that I'll be in France for the weekend of the FUCT fixed 10 so definitely won't be entering. Still I encourage people to give it a go - there aren't that many fixed specific events around.
re. the 100... I'm not sure which one. Someone in the club is trying to organise a few people to try and take out the team 100mi club record (which is probably the softest record bar the 12hr team record), so whichever one they choose.
I just had a look and there are only 3 100s left this year...
North Lancs - L10010 - 28th Aug
BDCA - A100/4 - 2nd Sept
Welsh CA - R100/8 - 3rd SeptThe Welsh 100 is a lot closer for me but the course looks a lot more lumpy.

R100/8
I've ridden the R100/8a variant - it's a nice course. Not super fast but certainly not slow - not sure how much difference there is between the 8 and 8a.
You'll struggle to get into the BDCA without a qualifying time.
-
• #16311
What's your qualifying time? BDCA is only for fast people isn't it?
Edit: Yeah, what he said.
-
• #16312
Tried working out how hard it is to get into the bdca, but can't find the start sheet from last year as I'm now worrying hat 3:58 won't make the cut for the Ecca 100 next year after the times that were ridden on it this year....
Torn between the 100 or the last event on the f11/10 of the year on the same day....

Racing on Etwall courses really doesn't appeal to me any more.
-
• #16314
I have heard its a bit on the busy side, never know what to believe on TTF though as its all so wound up in excuses why "it wasnt a fast day" or "other people got completely different weather" as the national champs was supposedly on a "quiet" road and was crazy busy, especially on the return leg...

Well that solves that then. I don't have a qualifying time at all... Is Wales likely to fill up?
-
• #16316
No

Everyone who got a good time in the ECCA 100 already had a good time, it prob just got a bit faster. I would hope a sub 4hr time would get you in next year.

• #16319
I seem to have got the better of the weather!
We seem to have put out similar power numbers as well and I went 1:30 faster of which weather must have been a factor although you're clearly quite a bit taller as well so guess that's a factor, I do seem to consistently outperform my power numbers by 30-50w vs others with similar times, even vs people who I know have spent time in the wind tunnel, trying to work out if im genuinely slippery or my power meter just reads low!

Yeah, the weather was a funny one - thankfully the rain only started after the descent at about mile 10/11. It has stopped raining about mile 17/18 but still a lot of water on the road.
As for power/cda - I did 51.45 off similar power last year on the same course and I think my aeros have improved this year, although I have yet to improve any of my times. I really need to find a good traffic free circuit for some aero testing.
Have an entry in for the f11/10 on the 3rd Sept - but will see how I go as I am off on hols for two weeks - hopefully with some riding...

Anyone want some Align armrests?
-
• #16322
how much?
-
• #16323
Yeah true, but it closed on 4:06ish this year and it was quite slow the first time it was run, it was a fast day this year so more of the fast boys and girls will chose to do that race rather than any others, I should be safe as a reserve for next year, but guess I'll have an early run out at the hounslow 100 a few weeks before to make sure.
After my last chance before September for a fast 10 has been cancelled I'm putting all my eggs in the 10 mile basket in September now!

Will I be able to convert my SuperLightSuperSix into a flatland TT bike some spring? Droopy cock stem and a big narrow/wide chainring?
Also, has anyone ridden the North Road Hardriders? Would 52 x 11-28 be a recipe for pain?
As the bishop said to the actress.
