Nailed it!
The crankset looks great on that bike. -

Cheers guys. Yeah the cranks actually match quite nicely with the mudguards too.

Really nice build.
I loved my Equilibrium. Heavy as fuck though.
@umop3pisdn why are you sacking off the Pinnacle?

New Project.
Avanti Revolution 90s New Zealand mountain bike.
The paint was pretty shit so stripped it all off to find shiny, shiny chrome all over. Not sure what to do now though, can you powdercoat over chrome? Or how easy is it to paint over it? Maybe build it up as it is. It will either be a full period correct rebuild or some some semi modern stuff, depends on cost of 90s Suntour XC components.

The Avanti is so effing cool. Please get some repro decals. I have a modern day avanti cx and it makes me miss the days of them being a proper inovitive brand. They went through some rough years.

How much does it weigh?

Looks smart, I got offered a set of those cranks for really cheap (£20) and passed up on them. Then when I came to my sense and went back for them, they had gone :'(

Cheers, received the frame today, it's absolutely lovely, paint has got a fantastic deep sparkle to it- really pleased. Probably going to leave it a couple of weeks before building up, plan is to get a dynamo setup so need to research lights (have already decided on a mid range shimano hub as can get a good deal on a wheel)
Any recommendations for dynamo lights? Would love to have adequate light to see on unlit roads/tracks, but don't want to spend a fortune.

Glad it's as nice as it looks in the photo - something about a Thorn just oozes seriousness and functionality, before it was trendy of course. I'm a bit clueless on lighting, avoided going this route with my Croix de Fer as don't feel I personally need it or the extra weight just yet. Will be watching eagerly, much excite!

What do you plan on doing with your dynamo lights?
I got a cheapish AXA Blueline Front light with 30 lux I think and while I wouldn't use it on dark singletrack, it's plenty for unlit city streets. -

I want to be able to ride unlit Yorkshire roads, canal paths, possibly the odd track... this build is going to be the culmination of a lot of thinking and working out and I plant to keep the bike for a long while so don't want to buy something inadequate, but cash is a little tight ATM so don't want to go mad. Found a b&m that does 60 lux i think, but don't know what that's like in practice
