I believe the official line to Waterloo commuters was:
WFH or take your Summer holiday during this time.
I know a guy who works for the sub-contractor doing the works, he's told me that London Bridge has engineering works planned to start 2 days after Waterloo is supposed to finish. So if they overrun by 2 days, everyone who commutes by train is fully fucked.

Was fine for me this morning, but I left early. Will be interesting to see how tonight goes.

Some office yoof did similar thing at Borough/London Bridge lights; cans on the ears, walking across and away with back to traffic at same time the traffic was released. Completely oblivious, which wouldn't have been the case had I been at the front of the pack.

Completely oblivious
Too much of this generally.

New bike with gears, panniers and other pragmatic things. Cruised into work feeling chilled. I think there are things I'll miss about fixed but this thing will take me to a broader variety of places. Cheers to @Chak for building and maintaining a nice bike and special cheers for the panniers and rack! 10/10 would cruise smugly to work again.

Went to have a nose around @Sparky and Mrs Sparky's very lovely flat this evening (Hi guys!), which gave me the opportunity to try the route from the City to Downham.
Very impressed with Q1! Great stuff... doesn't quite stretch far enough though. Need to find a way to avoid Lewisham High Road if I'm going to move SE...

After a week in France, it was a shock to 'enjoy' the commute home yesterday. Such anger, stress and pollution in London.
-
• #17934
no wind, mild, sunrise, a rest day yesterday after feeling crap, felt a hard ride in, one of my slowest could not figure out a noise from the rear all the way to work, got to work, brake rub. I noticed in the garage this morning the OH had leaned her bike against mine despite the many times i've "politely" told her not to.
i will leave it there. -

Approx 30 mins later than usual today. What a difference it makes! The general sense of stress and anger goes through the roof.

I made the exact same mistake and left half an hour later to try fixed out on the commute for the first time. So much fuckwittery mainly arising from other cyclists; twice I was cut up to the point of having to emergency stop by 'fellow' cyclists. I think I'm also going to find an alternate route to avoid the cycle highway from St. Georges Circus to Fleet street as it's just too packed with people doing reckless things to get their PBs down or some shit.
Also what's with these bellends with speakers attached to their bags or bars blasting out shite music? Fuck them too.

Nice ride, had a mixture of Status Quo and Kylie blasting out of the speaker in my bag. Totally chilled and relaxed.

Were you riding a Roberts track?
Yes that cycle lane can be dicey, lots of people make poor decisions along there

Saw a guy clearly late for a meeting today decide to undertake a truck in a left hand only lane, where the truck was indicating and had been in the lane for ages. Despite my shouts he went anyway and genuinely thought he was a gonner. Thankfully the driver was taking care and saw him early and scared the shit out of all pedestrians with the horn. When the roads are as dangerous as they are, why take additional risk for absolutely no gain!

Someone leant their bike against your commuter? The horror. (Mudguards and brake blocks are easy to check.)

at 6.30am nothing is easy to check ;-) .........

Dropped my bike off at a shop today so had a different route that took me through Clerkenwell. Think I saw more dicey left passes of turning buses and lorries today than my last 6 months of riding combined

Nah just some old unnamed 10 speed I've converted as a test to see if I like fixed; if I do, I may look into something a bit nicer. I've been using it where I live for errands and that but wanted to try the commute today. It was surprisingly nice but really makes you think about junctions and stopping differently!

MASH-UP!
"You're in the army now, oh-ooh-oh, you're in the army, now"
"I should be so lucky, lucky, lucky, luck..." (etc.) -

First commute after 3 weeks out of the country, felt good if a bit slow, will compare and contrast strava times so see if I was actually slower or just a mental thing.
Headed in late but felt like the station works at waterloo which are fucking with commuters into/out of london has ramped up the amount of people cycling in.. -
• #17946
Back on the p-wagon today after the nice bike managed all of 6 days before the hanger alignment / cassette / un-f-ing fathomable ticking noise returned. Fettling last night made it worse.
Lovely, silent ride in apart from the lorry that tried to kill me but meh, London.

All these stories make my commute sound so boring. Must move to London.

Is the rep for Kylie or Quo?

Neither, more for the impeccable comedy timing.
Dozy lady wandering up the northbound seg lane at E&C this morning with her back to the flow of cyclists.
Called out 2 or 3 times as I approached behind her. "Excuse me! Excuse me! Hello!"
I was definitely not being quiet... everyone in the vicinity apart from her turned to look, and another pedestrian had to walk over and tap her on the shoulder so she moved out of the way.
I don't understand how people can be so unaware of their surroundings...
