Yep, but you were using the fancy M8050 junction box, no?
Saw a bike once setup with 1x11, big mtb cassette at the rear and R785 shifters... di2 is fantastic.

Yes! Soz I didnt fully read the question. Works same as 3 port under stem box.
The only regret I have is not going clutched MTB mech .. tbf when I built it XT Di2 wasnt even announced and I didnt want to stump up the cash for XTR Di2 which is a mistake in retrospect. -

Is there any routine servicing for Di2, or a diagnostics to run through?
A friend's asked me to give his Di2 equipped bike the once-over.

Update the firmware is about all you do really.
Unless he's asking you to wash his bike for him?
-
• #2381
Well, probably that too.
Thanks!

If there's nothing wrong with it and there are no new features, I wouldn't update the firmware. Ain't broke.
-
• #2383
I'll certainly err on the side of caution, but wondered if there was anything to be routinely done to it.

Easy to do that, just get a roadlink and any 6870 derailleur. 11-40 M8000 cassette. sorted.

Is it worth waiting for the new di2 gruppo i.e r8070, or just get the current one now its cheap (or will get cheaper?) I'm looking at di2 hydraulic
-

I'm running a 6870GS with an 11-40 on a Surly Straggler with no hanger mods. Running 1x, SW-R600 Pave shifter on a flat bar with M985 brakes.

E-Tube Di2 (i.e not OG DuraAce 10s Di2) is more interchangable than mechanical gruppos.
Pretty sure you could use R785 brifters with an Alfine 11 Di2 hub and an XT Display-junction if you wanted to.

recharge the battery

Heh!
I like the sound of this electronic shifting.
-
• #2390
ok thanks, sounds like a plan - something i gotta look into...just thinking whether its worth waiting or not
-

Depends on length of hanger and size or ring up front. 1st attempt I managed to get an SS derailleur to 36t with B-limit pushed to max. Other time it barely worked with a 32t.
Needed the Roadlink as was running a 46t up front. Frikking love di2. Plug. Play. Experiment.

Shimano just did it right, will take SRAM ages to catch up..

I would check for any rub or wear on the cables at the entry and exit points to the frame, make sure the connectors are all plugged in tightly and check the battery is still sitting well in the seatpost.

Update on the Internally Routed Bar Saga
Have new Pro bars and Pro stem waiting for me....
Will update on how useless these supposedly completely internally routed items are when I've had time to play, I just really hope my woes are solved and I've been sent the right set of bars this time. And that they're actually
Internally routable.... -
