As I was putting the grease on, to a part that I want to keep rock-solid still, I thought you might perhaps have been pulling my leg, but I did not hear a squeak out of it after greasing, on a 33 km circuit. Thank you!
I also changed the quick release bolt to one with a greater surface area gripping the dérailleur hanger from one with a small surface like that on the right in the image below to one with a larger surface area like that on the left in the same Sheldon Brown image (though both have plastic covers). https://www.sheldonbrown.com/images/skewer-nuts.jpg
And another 30km without a single creak.
I wonder if I will get another few years out of my frame (and body, touch wood).
