I aspire to buy my girlfriend this for about town

Dawes Kingpins can be picked up cheap and modded nicely into fun commuter/ run arounds
-

Bob is tempting as could transfer everything over from her current bike, charge is good value. Both nearly fit the bill but nothing beats a proper mixte shape. Ideal would be a Soma vista but with track ends and in a suitably garish finish.

You could call bobj and see what they could offer?
Steve Goff seems to offer very good value custom steel frames, might be worth a look...
-

The bobj doesn't have the all important twin tubes but will look.
Wasn't looking to go custom or big money, was hoping for something like the grater but less melty looking. -

Not a mixte but does have track drop outs + looks awesome -

Gonna to test ride the grater today. 2016 model is so cheap it's not worth worrying about.
''Tis a commuter, not an object of desire. Liz has her Troll for best.. -

Try to Google colossi blowout, standert are discounting some colossi mixte frames. Limited size though.
-

Deposit paid. 2016 grater is just over £200 from Evans, kinda no brained really.

Can this be the general mixte thread from now?
Built this for my GF some years ago:
Now has mudguards and shit:

Good call^
Only if it stays twin tube only. None of that single top tube step through frame bullshit. -

Soma buena vista

Some PedalRoom stuff:

I've left out every mixte with drop bars, that is a combination to avoid as it generally looks shit.

Love this in its no mudguard stage, so nice.
-
• #21
I liked that stage best too. But my GF has a proper fixie skidder so adding guards was just sensible.
I found the frame NOS on another forum and at first she really did not like it, but i've talked her into and now it's her "girlie" bike and she loves it. -

Will post up Liz's soon to be retired pug ss. It's served her well for commutes and forum rides since 2009. She's keeping it for sentimental reasons but harvesting the mudguards and wald for her new grater.

I'm building a Soma Buena Vista at the moment. It was the only modern Mixte f+f I could find (at least a trade price).
RRP is steep and I'm not that convinced by the horizontal dropouts, but it should ride nicely. -

Liz's new grater. Cheap, cheerful, almost identical position to her troll. Guards, basket, pedals and smp came across from the pug.
It was a bargain at £200 but full price seems a bit much considering some of the parts.

Nice. Is that sensible wight wise? Not too heavy?
Apologies if there's already a thread for this but are there any modern ss mixte frames currently available? Liz's pug is getting tired but she wants to keep it step thru for commuting.
