Love it when a plan comes together :)

I'd love it if it was but I don't think so. That interview was about 8 years ago.
More recent article about him:

102 is the first person I check when I wake up and every time I catch up on the dots. I zoom in to see where he stopped to smell the roses and kind of watch over him to see if he's ok.
If I live that long I really hope my knees play ball so I can continue to enjoy rolling on two wheels.

I really hope it is him but must confess that even for someone as amazing as him, riding that type of distance and terrain at 80 is pushing it. I turn 60 in September and in a couple of weeks am doing a relatively easy 2000k ride over 10 days. I am trepetitious about it. To think of doing something so massive in 20 years time...well I can't even dream about it.

We need someone to find out for us from the organisers.

Not him, it's this guy (just searched the FB group for Chris Davies)

I thought that if it was him then maybe we would have seen him featured in the video interviews at the start. I would have enjoyed a senior segment that also included Frank 172.
It's certainly a mystery that I'd like solved. If it isn't him, I still enjoyed the idea.
This dot watching is closer to reading a book and using your imagination than watching TV.

The internet detectives come alive after dark :)
I'm typing responses and meanwhile poof all solved. Thanks
102 looks like he's having fun. Good on him. Keep at it.

Looks good for 80.

I wish your knees and hips slick and durable cartilage and your tendons ample flexibility to keep you pedaling for as long as you choose.
Cheers

One of those things where the quest for marginal gain bites one on the arse
Pro tip: If you really want a marginal loss to bite you on the arse, ride in worn cleats.

Bijorn sensibly got a decent sleep. Not quite touring but he is unlikely to finish until Monday and so no point in going two nights without sleep.
skinny's announcement about riding through sealed his victory (providing that he stays safe).

Lovely writeup :) Thanks for that.

Sounds like Michael Wacker is keeping hippy company and he's kicking back now which is awesome. Geoffroy Dussault has moved up to challenge Nelson Trees in fourth. skinny rode through and his average speed looks to be suffering (?), perhaps he'll sleep a bit with around 280km to go.

I was thinking overnight about the similarities between Skinny's ride and Evan Deutsch's win of the TABR this year. Their race pattern has been similar, while both were also refining previous year's strategies and both have seemed completely in control of what they are doing which I suppose comes from experience? It led me look into Kristof Allegaert who sounds like a force to be reckoned with from what I read!

Tough night for skinny by the sound of things - this on Twitter. Still pushing on though.

Skinny struggling on while hippy lazes around in a fancy hotel :D

night riding is really good but resupplying can be a bit difficult - which means carrying 10 hours worth of food/water.

Looks like they've given the heatwave the name Lucifer
My friend Anisa, (cap186) is in the middle of Hungary having ridden all day today. She messaged me to say she is suffering heat exhaustion, and looking for somewhere to stop. I had a look on street view to see whereabouts she was, and she is right in the middle of farmland in a tiny village with no obvious facilities. I spotted a bus stop and the next thing I know she messaged me to say she was just about to go to sleep in that very bus stop.
