Called into swift cycles today and they are following as expected.

6hr lead for skinny

Quite surprised to read he's relying on valve extenders TBH, for such an "out-there" event. I can understand you'd want to have a deep section front (I remade my front dynohub rim/wheel for PBP to suit this) for aerodynamics, but valve extenders are a PITA, so best to use less than 50mm deep.

Might still be impossible to find a 60mm valve tube in some areas, extender seems clever imo

Skinny now entering Macedonia

Can you crochet?

Stay safe and strong Skinny!

Yes, it's an obvious point of potential (actual) failure.
His rear looks like 50mm, but his front is deeper. One of those things where the quest for marginal gain bites one on the arse -

Did skinny have difficulties getting over the border? Looks like he had to make two attempts.

Is 102 Chris(topher) Davies the 80ish year old legend cyclist that has ridden over a million miles? At the last transcon he rode to CP1 and that was it.
-
• #2164
It's just free route being silly. There are no dots at all on that long roundabout detour thingy.
-
• #2166
Hooray but he punctured.
-
• #2167
Could be. He may just be going to CP2 then. Let's try and find out.

• #2170
I think I need to up my life goals.
-
• #2171
My goodness, if that is him and I think it might well be, I am inordinately impressed. Nice that @tricitybendix interviewed him.

The oldest rider on TCRNo3 was about 63 which led me to promise myself that I would have a crack when I got to 65. I can now defer it for a further 15 years.
-
• #2173
Yeah, thats who I think it is but I can't confirm. The behavior matches well.
You know it's funny, if it is him, he has more than likely rode more than all the riders put together have ever ridden in their lives til now.

• #2174
True. A fine example why those at the back are far more interesting than the fast young buggers at the front.

I won't be alive then to witness it but it would be lovely to think that young skinny might do the same in 60 years time.
Wouldn't have expected anything less of James
