Yeah, but don't the surly disc forks weigh about a ton? Which suggests they've been made stiff enough that they probably don't provide all that much damping anyhow.
But then the advantage of disks is the ability to run huge volume tyres, so I suppose it's swings and roundabouts.
They're heavy but don't ride heavy, I replaced the carbon forks on my CDF with a pair of Straggler forks and at last can ride the bike with confidence. They do have fore and aft flex but I would take that over super stiff any day.
