Both good solid letters
But you are right, B always comes first, especially infront of C.

It's just a bit harder to find good wheels, tyres, tubes etc. Definitely worth it if it means the bike fits and handles properly.

Just to but in, we have had a load of isen branded paselas being made in 650c x 28, and the bike is capable of taking 26" wheels and cross country tyres, so should be a good amount of choice for tyres. Obviously, 700c is more predominant, but from a geo point of view it just makes sense to shrink stuff down if you can.

It is true that 650b leaves a lot more clearance for your ego

Post-Brexit all wheels sold in the UK will have to be imperial. Fill yer boots now.

@coldharbour, I am sold. Will the next batch of Isen still have the same awesome forum discount?
Since I have your attention, what's the wait time for a Talbot at the moment? I am probably gonna pop round at some point this month have a nose round...

Hey you all. Quick question - have Columbus tubing MTB frame with cracked top tube from too many jumps (as said by previous owner). Columbus sent replacement tube as it was some kind super thin tubing of theirs. Who is the best to give to replace tube? I guess everyone knows how to treat Columbus tubing.

There are quite a few places that can do frame repairs in London. Is lugged brazed or tigged

The next batch will be discounted, but not by as much. We'd planned on using the discounted batch as promotion but sold them all too quickly (boast post etc...)
Have you registered interest (again lol)! If yes you'll here all about it the second I start building the first batch, which is when we start all over again...

Moar TIG chat.
A friend's Singular Peregrine has fractured in the same place on both chainstays.
He's been in touch with Singular, who are haven't found anyone prepared to take on the repair as "The bend of the chainstays is unusual and very few UK builders TIG weld."
Winston has gone fishing again, any other suggestions for TIG welder's who do repairs?

Sam wont replace?

Sam said the actual manufacturer won't cover it under their warranty and he hasn't found anyone to do it (it's him I quoted above).
He doesn't explicitly say so in the correspondence I've seen, but I think he will cover the repair if someone to do it can be found.

Will you be selling those? Ordered/Bought a 49 ISEN for the GF for her 30th and even though the wallet is not there yet, starting to think about the build, especially wheels....pretty much have no ideas where to start so far (I have 6 months to figure things out...and fill that bank account!).

Looking to get a new fork for my Argos as the stock fork won't allow for brake caliper, 28c or a raceblade (my commuter innit). It's a slightly odd one as Argos have suggested it might actually be an Andy Powell frame and it was resprayed by Bob Jackson! I've had a chat with the latter and as they most likely have the paint finish in stock, they've quoted me £200 for 631 (closer to £150 for standard R reynolds) but cannot guarantee 100% match. We've talked about matching aesthetics as close as possible so only a marginal increase in drop and rake for increased clearance and matching diameter fork blades.
Does that price sound about right? Any reason not to go with Bob J? I'm London based so would happily use a recommended local to save on postage if they can mix/match paints.
I suppose the other option would be to source a road fork with a similar crown (looks Mercian esque) and get it paint matched but i'd worry i'd end up with big gaps everywhere.

Why tig though? Just lop it off and get Winston to braze on a pair of new chainstays?
-
• #298
Yeah for sure, when the non-shit website goes live there will be all sorts of things to buy to go with your isen on there!

Interesting failure characteristic also, have you seen it irl? Does it start at the crimping?

Hadn't thought of that, I suppose that'll be easiest.
Not seen it myself, I'll ask.
Someone told him it's a typical failure with SS/FX on account of torque or summat...
