  • Unconditional love for @Smallfurry
Full of helpful advice and massively patient in helping me decide on a new road bike. He's a proper bike boffin.

Oh, and in true LFGSS tradition I changed my mind last minute and ended up doing something completely different from what he recommended.

  • @dammit

just as i was feeling exasperated about installing new cranks and not getting the correct spacers with them, he posted up a picture that showed my old cranks came with all the required metal hoops.

  • Managed to catch up with quite a few of you during my trip, just wanted to say how awesome it was too see you... Much love from a tired, cynical old fart who may live a long way away now but thinks about you all all the time...

    Get a life, dorks... 😘😍❤

  • Thank you @Dropped.Bars who got me out of a tight spot - posted me a veloflex master for free! So I could get back from home after mine had blown. Legend.

  • Haha no worries man. I've had a lot of good out of this forum recently so it's gotta make its way back round.

  • @phildas @jules for helping loads of people out when i am too lazy to send stuff to people

  • I'm not always a total twat! hoorah!

  • Indeed. * hug *

  • That was a reply to James BTW. Not you being a twat...

  • It is true though haha

  • Anytime mate

    BIKES!

  • @Skülly for dragging me back to London to go dancing at the 20th anniversary of The Loft. It was a pleasure to spend time with Mr Chops and when we got to the party I rekindled friendships that had been allowed to go slack. A hot sweaty night with loads of my friends in one place made me think of

    https://youtu.be/32Vr2RRcsWo

    Bang!

I wanna see all my friends at once
I'd do anything to get the chance to go bang
    I wanna go bang!

Bang, ba-bang, bang go bang go
Bang, bang, go bang go fly bang go bang go

  • Soppy git

  • I love all you miserable old bastards. ;)

  • Absolute banger 😂.

Bloody great tune though in all seriousness and glad you had a great time James. That's what it's all about.

Out of interest was this something to do with the guys behind the Love is the Message podcast?

  • I didn’t know about the podcast until you mentioned it. Tim and Jem are founding members of the lucky cloud sound system (along with Cosmo and others). They are both academics with a strong interest in music/dancing/nightlife. Tim wrote the Love Saves the Day and Hold onto your dreams.

Jem is also part of the Beauty and the Beat parties as well. The two parties have a lot of crossover crew and share Klipschorn speakers.

Houseparty.org.uk is the beauty and the beat party website

Full disclosure I have over the years helped in the production of the Loft and BATB parties and they hold a very dear place in my heart - proper music, great sound, and the most lovely crowd of dancers and music nuts.

  • Big shout out to @DragunovCZ1 for offering me a free ticket to a gig tonight. I couldn't make it but a friend went instead. Unbelievably generous.
Also, very late but massive thanks to @jono84 for lending me a Carradice for a weekend trip and just generally being really nice. It's been great chatting the few times we've met, hopefully bump in to you and the pup again soon!
    Bloody love this place.

  • Aw shucks, no worries dude, thanks back at you for that mahoosive bag of coffee!

    See you round.

  • Sorry for being a cockwomble. No excuse

This forum has given me some brilliant experiences with lovely people.

  • I was going to post this in the Maj memorium thread, but seemed more apt for here:

One of the things I love most about this forum is how much people care about one another.
There was recent post about someone from another forum who were "welcomed" in classic LFGSS fashion and ran off to complain about it.

Hang around long enough and these, very sad, tragic and unfortunate posts about the passing of a member come along and there is a public outpouring of grief for the loss of one of our own, and you realise, we are actually not a bad bunch, and if you settle in you will be another one of us.

I have met IRL very few of you, but over the years people on here have gifted me equipment, sold me other things, given untold advise and generally helped me through some very tough times and some very good times.

I am saddened that it takes the loss of a beloved member for me to express how grateful I am to everyone of you.

Now fuck off and ride a bike.
