• I've gone for the Campag look alike. Think they're the A171.

You might live to regret those brakes when it gets muddier. I had to run them really close to the rim and even then had little modulation. You might find that with the lever quick release enabled you don't hit the rim at all. After trying out more expensive brakes (Avid Ultimate, TRP revox), all things considered (setup, mud clearance, price, weight) I still think the wide Tektros are the best.

  • What do you mean about wide Tektros?
I currently have Shorty 6 with cartridge brake pad holders + Dura 3 brake pads and they stop me just fine.
I am aware of the CX8.4 issues, but I hope running them with TRP RRL levers will make it work better (surely they are designed to work together??) and if not I'll swap back. I have a had Revox before (on my Pompino - wtf was I doing lol) and they are great, but soooo much money new. I should obviously have kept them for this. Also I only paid £60 for the TRP CX8.4s so it is end of the world if I need to sell them on.

  • It's quite possible I paired the mini v's with the wrong levers.

CR720 are the wide Tektros. Only downside is I do tend to clip the rear brake when remounting occasionally, and there are no cable adjusters.
