If you take a tote bag I don't see any problems really. For commuting it might be annoying having to worry about someone stealing your framebag though. Still, it's not a lot of space to play with so a that dry bag may be worth trying

How is that strapped on? The set up to the left looks very different to how mine is when on the bike.

Carradice FTW! I really want one myself, maybe next time I go touring.
You could even trying using a bagman support with a drybag and webbing to secure it?

Is this the right thread to ask what people bring to eat? Especially vegetarians? I'm doing three days along canal in Ireland (should only take two but there's a distillery along the route) but want it to be a precursor to the Trans Germany route next year.http://www.bikepacking.com/routes/bikepacking-trans-germany/

Trans-Germany looks amazing!

I was about to reply with a list of the meat snacks I take then read your vegetarian bit... for any reasonable length tour, though, I would focus on saving some places that look good for buying lunches etc. on maps then picking stuff up as you go along.

Yeah, I figured that might be best, those Holland and Barrett oat bars are almost 500 cals each so a few of them for emergencies and get on with it. Might bring own coffee, just to be cool.

Coffee and an aeropress for the morning is a must for me.
Otherwise I would just buy on route. A few emergency gels are good too. -
• #3441
When you planning to do that G?

I'm veggie and when I rode with Ben I just had naked bars and coconut macaroons. We stopped at pubs and cafes for lunch and dinner though, apart from Achill island where I just inhaled a pack of rolls and happy pear hummous.

Not sure about Ireland but Germany is pretty easy for veggies. Not vegetarian myself but spent some time with a veg so barely ate meat the time I spent touring in Germany and it was a breeze really

First weekend of September. Germany will take a little planning. I have a feeling I may be doing that one alone. Which won't be bad. I'm looking into one nighters as well over here, but fat bike or road bike not sure yet. Whole new world opened up once I quit the racing.
Yeah, I'm a fussy fucker too, so might need to cop on a bit. Rural Ireland still has a little catching up to do on the food front. Happy Pear are everywhere it seems.

Thanks, haven't been in awhile. Am travelling to Dusseldorf in December so can check it out then too.

turns out @umop3pisdn was right
Swings uncontrollably no matter what I try, zip ties, strapping it tight..
Maybe I'll get a proper harness and use the airlok as the contents
He muttered a load of nonsense about them being really cheap and I'm still none the wiser
