If I used a CK ThreadFit 30 could I fit Si Cranks on my Trail SL frame?
@Howard -
• #8581
Yes with an cinch axle from RaceFace
Some stuff here:
-
• #8582
Hmm, so would presumably I could just buy their own (much cheaper) BB instead?
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/race-face-bsa-cinch-30mm-bottom-bracket/
and heir axle get some arms and away it go?
-
• #8583
You'd need some spacers but yeah get the cheapest bsa 30 bb you can basically and the mtb spider or a direct mount ring
DJ is selling some Hollowgram Si arms they are the sweetspot for mtb I think. Not so spendy that you are sad when you mash them but nice enough to be smug :)

Good price now on this Caad6 saeco for the larger gent or lady
-
• #8586
I was thinking of putting them on my Habit, but then I have the non-hollowgram Si arms on it anyway, and they suit the bike well I think.
-
• #8587
Is there a difference between MTB Si and Road Si apart from logos?
-
• #8588
No, there is no road or mtb si or different logos
-
• #8589
Re threaded BBs, it's really hard to get any info out of cannondale/CSG but some of the Badboys are actually coming stock with the non hollowgram SIs using a FSA BB
-
• #8590
Picture not working.
-
• #8591
fixed
-
• #8592
That's interesting development, Cannondale quietly admitting that PF BB's aren't as amazing as they'd have you believe.

No it isn't - its because badboys are cheap and it's cheaper to make a bsa threaded frame than PF frame, and if you can chuck your branded crank on it with the mtb axle, why not?
-
• #8595
How wide are they? 68mm?
-
• #8596
Hey hey I'm happy to enjoy the benefits
-
• #8597
these badboys are more pricey than the base CAADs tbh. I Guess cannondale know what they'll be used for and threaded does just make more sense
-
• #8598
Yeah thems the spacers you need right there.

They have goofy components like rigid lefties with integrated lights (WTF) and belt drives. The money aint going in to the frame, that's for sure.
That BB is apparently FSA EVO8681 - BSA to BB30 adapter
The 'BB30 adapter' is kinda misleading

Where now?
Just spotted a Caad 4 / R500 on glumtree anyone - may be a bit basic? https://www.gumtree.com/p/bicycles/cannondale-r500-53cm/1258647974
No relation to seller / no vested interest, etc
